Radiation Therapist (Traveler)

Department: Radiation Oncology
Location: Athena Medtech
Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Schedule: 40 hours/week (5 days, 8-hour shifts)
Experience Required: Minimum of 2 years as a Radiation Therapist

Position Summary

Athena Medtech is seeking an experienced Travel Radiation Therapist to join our advanced Radiation Oncology team. In this role, you will deliver individualized radiation therapy to patients with precision and compassion, working closely with a multidisciplinary team in a technologically sophisticated environment. Our department features cutting-edge equipment, including Accuray CyberKnife, Varian TrueBeam, two Elekta Infinity linear accelerators, and a dedicated High Dose Rate (HDR) suite.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer prescribed radiation therapy treatments accurately and safely, following oncologist-approved protocols.
  • Explain treatment processes, expectations, and possible side effects to patients and their families.
  • Operate and maintain medical imaging and radiation equipment, ensuring precision in targeting treatment areas.
  • Assess and monitor patients’ responses to treatment; provide guidance on managing side effects and escalate concerns when needed.
  • Collaborate with radiation oncologists, medical physicists, dosimetrists, and nurses to modify treatment plans as appropriate.
  • Perform regular quality assurance checks on simulation and treatment equipment.
  • Maintain thorough documentation and ensure compliance with clinical and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Education: Completion of an AMA-approved Radiation Therapy Program.
  • Licensure & Certification:
  • CRT: California Certified Radiologic Technologist
  • ARRT (T): Registered Radiation Therapist
  • BLS: Current Basic Life Support certification (AHA)
  • Experience: At least 2 years in clinical radiation therapy, preferably in a high-volume or advanced treatment setting.
  • Skills: Strong patient communication, attention to technical accuracy, and collaborative approach to multidisciplinary care.
  • Compliance: Must provide all necessary documentation for travel assignment credentialing.
