Doctoral degree from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama, five years of progressively responsible experience in an academic administrative role(s), and possession of an advanced academic rank from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in college or division-level academic administration, particularly in areas such as administering academic policies, appeals of academic policies decisions, as well as extensive knowledge with Banner and other University systems is highly preferred.

Essential Functions
The University of South Alabama (USA) - a dynamic public research university and the Flagship of the Gulf Coast - seeks an exceptional, visionary leader to serve as Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Located on a 1,200-acre campus in a culturally rich metropolitan area of nearly 600,000 residents on the scenic Gulf of Mexico, the University of South Alabama is a comprehensive regional institution serving more than 14,000 students across 11 colleges and schools. USA offers an extensive portfolio of undergraduate, graduate, and professional degree programs including one of Alabama's two state-supported medical schools and a broad variety of additional initial practice and advanced healthcare degrees. USA offers the advantages of a major academic institution in a setting known for its quality of life and vibrant community. The University also includes the USA Health system, which is the region's only academic health system, serving the area through University Hospital (also a Level One Trauma Center), Children's & Women's Hospital, USA Providence Hospital, the Mitchell Cancer Institute, a Freestanding Emergency Department, and numerous medical offices staffed by clinical faculty from the College of Medicine along with a growing number of community-based physicians and advanced providers.
The Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs reports to the Executive Vice President and Provost and has responsibilities including, but not limited to, addressing student concerns and student academic conduct; overseeing special withdrawals (administrative, medical, study abroad, and voids), appeals to academic suspension, and change of grade requests; and managing course fees; and supporting curriculum review and program development. In addition, the position oversees the management of the EO/EA process, serves as a liaison with the Council of Academic Leaders regarding Academic Affairs policies and procedures, and collaborates with the Executive Vice Provost on a daily basis.
