PA or NP - Orthopedic Spine Team

Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists (SOS) – Syracuse, NY


Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists (SOS), the leading orthopedic practice in Central New York, is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our highly respected spine team.


Opportunity Highlights

  • Evaluates new and follow up patients who are scheduled.
  • Orders appropriate diagnostic tests (labs, imaging).
  • Applies and removes casts and splints for fracture care patients.
  • Prescribes medications, treatments, physical therapy and occupational therapy.
  • Participates in triage decisions.
  • Follows guidelines set forth by NYSDOH, DEA, and CMS
  • Provides office coverage for physicians (when physicians are not available) for labs, paperwork, etc.
  • Performing injections: intra-articular, trigger point, trigger finger and inter-muscular.
  • Responsible for history and physicals, patient teaching for upcoming surgery.
  • Responsible for precepting student Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants.
  • Maintains knowledge regarding changes in the practice of the advanced practice provider.
  • Documents notes efficiently and within appropriate billing guidelines.
  • Responds to emergencies including using CPR.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
