The Oligo and Bulk Production Supervisor is responsible for leading the daily operations of the oligonucleotide and bulk production manufacturing team within Abbott's AMD Molecular Business Unit in Des Plaines, Illinois. This role provides direct leadership to technical manufacturing personnel while ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of production activities that support business objectives, customer requirements, and operational performance goals.

The Oligo and Bulk Production Supervisor partners closely with Technical Support, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and other cross-functional teams to enhance manufacturing capabilities, optimize production processes, and ensure uninterrupted execution of manufacturing operations. This position plays a key role in fostering a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across the production organization.

In addition to overseeing day-to-day manufacturing activities, the Oligo and Bulk Production Supervisor is responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing process excellence initiatives that improve productivity, quality, efficiency, and overall operational performance. The role supports problem-solving efforts, drives corrective and preventive actions, and promotes best practices that enable sustainable manufacturing excellence.

The Oligo and Bulk Production Supervisor regularly monitors operational metrics, evaluates team performance, and communicates accomplishments, productivity results, and key business updates to functional and organizational leadership. Through effective leadership, employee development, and operational oversight, this position contributes to the successful execution of manufacturing objectives and the continued growth of Abbott's Molecular Business.

What You'll Work On:

  • Ensure compliance with Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.
  • Supervise the daily operations of the oligonucleotide and bulk technical manufacturing technicians to meet organizational objectives.
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional teams with Technical Support to enhance manufacturing capabilities.
  • Identify and address training needs.
  • Implement and maintain the effectiveness of the Quality System
  • Understand and comply with EHS policies, procedures, guidelines, and programs.
  • Ensure the execution of the production plan to support business requirements.
  • Promote communication and teamwork across shifts and crews.
  • Manage all people-related activities, including administrative tasks, performance management, workflow, and assignments.
  • Work under the general direction of the department manager.
  • Assign work within the group, resolve issues, and manage people-related processes.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and make timely, effective decisions related to business and personnel issues within the scope of responsibility.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Business Administration, Engineering, or
  • related technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 years of experience in the manufacturing operations industry.

  • environment.
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set goals and provide positive and constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships and improve business results.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced changing environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
  • Multi-tasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and follow-up skills and ability to hold others accountable.


PREFERRED

  • Previous supervisory experience in manufacturing operations with demonstrated ability to acquire and apply manufacturing principles is preferred.
  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross division business unit model preferred.
