We are seeking a Global Endovascular Upstream Marketing Manager to join the Global Strategic Marketing team within our Vascular business, based onsite in Santa Clara, CA.

This is a fully onsite role.

Our Vascular business develops innovative, minimally invasive, and cost-effective products for the treatment of coronary and peripheral vascular disease.

The Global Upstream Marketing Manager will serve as a key leader within Global Strategic Marketing, responsible for driving upstream marketing strategy and portfolio development across the Endovascular franchise. This role will lead customer insight generation, market assessment, innovation planning, new product development activities, and portfolio strategy to identify and deliver the next generation of growth opportunities.

Working closely with R&D, Clinical Affairs, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Operations, and regional commercial teams, the Group Manager will translate market needs into product and platform strategies that improve patient outcomes, create competitive advantage, and accelerate long-term franchise growth.

What You'll Work On

Upstream Marketing & Portfolio Strategy

  • Lead upstream marketing activities for the Endovascular franchise, including customer insights, market assessment, unmet need identification, and portfolio planning.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive market, customer, and competitive intelligence to identify opportunities for innovation and growth.

  • Partner with franchise leadership to shape the long-term roadmap for Endovascular technologies, platforms, and therapies.

  • Evaluate adjacent market opportunities, emerging technologies, and evolving standards of care that could create future growth platforms.

  • Develop business cases and strategic recommendations that inform investment decisions, portfolio prioritization, and resource allocation.

Customer & Market Insights

  • Establish a deep understanding of physician workflows, clinical decision-making, procedural challenges, and healthcare system trends.

  • Lead voice-of-customer activities with physicians, healthcare providers, administrators, and key opinion leaders globally.

  • Translate customer and market insights into actionable product requirements and strategic recommendations.

  • Monitor competitive activity, clinical evidence, reimbursement changes, and market dynamics to identify opportunities and risks.

  • Identify emerging trends and unmet clinical needs that will influence future portfolio strategy.

Product Development & Innovation Leadership

  • Serve as marketing lead on cross-functional product development teams from concept through launch readiness.

  • Partner with R&D and Clinical teams to define product requirements, value propositions, and success criteria for new products and platforms.

  • Facilitate tradeoff decisions among customer requirements, technical feasibility, clinical benefit, competitive differentiation, and financial considerations.

  • Support innovation initiatives, concept evaluations, market testing, and early-stage product assessments.

  • Ensure customer needs and market perspectives are represented throughout the product development process.

Strategic Planning & Portfolio Management

  • Support the development of multi-year franchise plans, innovation roadmaps, and product lifecycle strategies.

  • Develop market models, forecasts, adoption scenarios, and market opportunity assessments.

  • Partner with commercial teams to ensure alignment between innovation priorities and market needs.

  • Lead portfolio analyses that evaluate growth potential, competitive positioning, and resource investment opportunities.

  • Recommend strategies to maximize long-term franchise value and sustainable growth.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Collaborate closely with R&D, Clinical Affairs, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Quality, Market Access, and Finance to ensure strategic alignment.

  • Build strong partnerships across regional and global organizations to incorporate market perspectives into portfolio decisions.

  • Influence key stakeholders through data-driven recommendations and compelling business rationale.

  • Support executive reviews, innovation councils, portfolio decision forums, and strategic planning initiatives.

Organizational Leadership

  • Mentor and develop junior marketing professionals and project team members.

  • Foster a culture of customer-centric innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Champion evidence-based decision-making and a growth mindset across the organization.

  • Act as a role model for Abbott's values and leadership behaviors.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required. MBA or advanced degree preferred.

  • 7+ years of progressive B2B marketing experience in life sciences, medical devices, or pharmaceutical industries.

  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience developing business cases, growth strategies, and market assessments.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Experience with Voice of Customer methodologies, market research, and innovation frameworks.
