About the role

The Senior Supply Chain Manager plays a critical leadership role in guiding Beretta USA’s Supply Chain Management function, overseeing approximately $50M in annual global material purchasing for the Gallatin operations. Reporting directly to the Director of Supply Chain, this position is a key part of the company’s succession planning and serves as a central point of coordination across Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, Commercial, Finance, and Business Planning teams. The role is responsible for setting and driving the overall supply chain strategy to support business growth, operational performance, and global expansion.

This position combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution. The Senior Supply Chain Manager owns the end-to-end procurement function, ensuring performance against cost, working capital, delivery, and compliance objectives while building strong supplier partnerships. In addition to developing and communicating a clear vision for supply chain evolution, the role leads and develops a small buying team and partners closely with cross-functional stakeholders to identify improvement opportunities, drive efficiency, and support reliable execution in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Supply Chain Manager will be accountable for leading the Supply Chain strategy and execution to enable increased business value and productivity. The Senior Supply Chain Manager will:

  • Own all aspects of the procurement function for Beretta – Gallatin Operations to include:
    • Cost performance to plan
    • Ensure performance to associated Working Capital targets
    • Sourcing strategy to support global expansion of business
    • Trade compliance
    • Ensure best delivery and lead time performance for shipment of Farris product
  • Must be able to develop and effectively communicate the strategic vision for supply chain development and evolution
  • Must be able to develop and implement effective tactical project plans for execution once strategies are approved
  • Direct, lead and develop a small buying team to create world class supplier performance
  • Work effectively with Demand Planning, Operations, Sales, Engineering and Finance to identify opportunities for improvement and drive efficiency
  • Decisions made within this function need to be made with in-depth understanding and interpretation of procedures, company policies and business practices to achieve targeted results.
  • Take overall responsibility for the strategic sourcing goals of the company and implement action items to ensure that those goals are achieved
  • Manage Purchase Price Variance (PPV) to the maximum benefit of the company
  • Manage development of staff encouraging professional growth and succession planning
  • Responsible for negotiations for best possible cost service guarantee and develop “win-win” strategies that achieve sustainable relationships with suppliers
  • Actively engage suppliers directly at their location
  • Evaluate supplier core competencies and competitive positioning using industry cost models
  • Implement supplier agreements/contracts when beneficial by working with cross-functional stakeholders and suppliers to reach agreement on contract terms and conditions
  • Research and anticipate shifts in the negotiating power of markets and suppliers
  • Analyze industry trends and evolving technology to proactively identify supply base issues to minimize risk, protect continuity of supply, and utilize emerging opportunities
  • Maintain and develop supplier relationships (trade shows, supplier meetings, conferences, etc.)
  • Participate in establishing short-term and long-range planning and budget development of the company to support strategic business goals
  • Develop a supplier management program with key suppliers including metrics, performance goals and improvement initiatives
  • Establish purchasing policies and ensure compliance within the department
  • Continuously improving productivity and efficiency of processes throughout the operational organization
  • Lead department to develop forecasts for future demand and place orders in a timely fashion based upon vendor lead-time
  • Develop and implement sourcing and supplier selection strategy domestically and internationally
  • Excess and Obsolescence inventory management
  • Oversee staffing/recruiting/training /coaching of direct reports including performance reviews

Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain or engineering from accredited university
  • MBA strongly preferred
  • Supply chain management certification: APICS (CSCP, CPIM, SCOR-P) or ISM (CPSM)
  • Required ten (10) years of successfully measured global sourcing and supply chain management experience with industrial products in a mix-model (high mix/low volume) production environment
  • Required five years (5) management experience in supply chain management
  • Excellent negotiations training with experience in freight transportation and understanding of US HTS codes and classifications
  • Proven ability to build relationships and work effectively as a leader and/or team member with cross-functional teams
  • Strong financial understanding a must
  • Ability to manage projects and establish clear goals and accountabilities to ensure successful delivery (on time, within budget, meeting agreed upon success criteria)
  • Knowledge of the legal terminology and language related to supplier and/or vendor agreements and contracts
  • Must have excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Self-starter approach to work with an eagerness to take responsibility and constantly exceed goals
  • Ability to identify tool and talent gaps and work to resolve through development or acquiring
  • Advanced systems skills and working knowledge of MS Office, with advanced Excel knowledge

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to sit at a computer for extended periods; walk through production areas as needed; stand as needed; bend, reach, and handle documents or materials; lift and carry items up to 25 pounds; use hands and fingers for typing, filing, and operating office equipment; communicate clearly in environments with varying noise levels; hear and understand verbal instructions; and work in both office and manufacturing environments with typical industrial conditions such as moderate noise, temperature changes, and required PPE.

Work Environment

Within the facility, employees may be exposed to manufacturing noise, airborne liquid chemicals, fine particulate dust, ambient temperatures, and industrial lighting. Work environment is similar to most manufacturing and distribution operations. Employees may be exposed to excessive noise, temperatures, hazards associated with working around moving machinery, exposure to vibrations and shop lighting, humidity, odors, and occasional exposure to chemical hazards.
