Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced SAP ABAP Developer with 8-12 years of hands-on experience in designing, developing, and supporting SAP applications. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in core ABAP along with modern SAP technologies such as Fiori, CDS Views, and RAP (RESTful ABAP Programming Model). This role requires a proactive individual capable of delivering high-quality solutions aligned with business needs and SAP best practices, with a strong emphasis on Clean Core principles.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy SAP ABAP solutions across various SAP modules.
  • Build and enhance applications using SAP Fiori/UI5.
  • Develop and optimize Core Data Services (CDS) Views for efficient data modeling and reporting.
  • Implement applications using the RESTful ABAP Programming Model (RAP).
  • Ensure developments align with Clean Core principles, minimizing modifications to SAP standard.
  • Work on performance tuning and optimization of ABAP programs and database queries.
  • Collaborate with functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Develop and maintain OData services for SAP applications.
  • Ensure adherence to SAP development standards and best practices.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers and consulting partners.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation.

Key Required Skills & Technical Expertise
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 8-12 years of strong experience in SAP ABAP development.
  • Deep expertise in ABAP Objects (OOABAP) and procedural ABAP.
  • Strong experience with all RICEFW objects.
  • Extensive experience with:
    • Data Dictionary (DDIC) objects (Tables, Views, Domains, Data Elements, Search Helps, Lock Objects)
    • ALV Reporting (Classical, OO ALV, SALV)
  • Strong knowledge of SAP HANA-specific development:
    • Code pushdown techniques
    • CDS Views (basic, composite, consumption)
    • AMDP (ABAP Managed Database Procedures)
    • SQLScript fundamentals
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • SAP Fiori / UI5 (custom apps, extensions, annotations)
    • OData services (SEGW, RAP-based services)
    • RAP (Managed & Unmanaged scenarios)
    • Web Services (SOAP/REST)
    • IDoc configuration and troubleshooting
  • Development Tools Expertise:
    • Hands-on experience with ABAP Development Tools (ADT) in Eclipse for modern ABAP development
    • Experience working in SAP Business Application Studio (BAS) for Fiori/UI5 and full-stack development
    • Familiarity with Git-enabled workflows and source control integration within BAS/ADT
  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
  • Experience with background processing management
  • Knowledge of authorization concepts (Authorization objects, Role-based access check):
  • Understanding basic transport management and transport release processes.
  • Familiarity with version control tools and ABAP Git is a plus.
  • Exposure to workflow development and business object processing framework (BOPF).
  • Strong understanding of SAP Clean Core strategy and S/4HANA extensibility model.
  • Experience in developing side-by-side extensions using SAP BTP instead of modifying core ERP.
  • Knowledge of ABAP Cloud development guidelines and restrictions.
  • Familiarity with upgrade-safe development practices to support seamless S/4HANA upgrades.
  • Experience using ATC (ABAP Test Cockpit) checks for Clean Core compliance.
  • Understanding of whitelisted APIs, CDS views, and behavior definitions.
  • Ability to refactor legacy custom code to align with Clean Core principles.
  • Knowledge of extensibility frameworks and adaptation projects in Fiori.
  • 15% domestric travel required

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with SAP BTP (Business Technology Platform).
  • Knowledge of SAP S/4HANA architecture and migration approaches.
  • Exposure to embedded analytics and Fiori Elements.
  • SAP certification in ABAP or S/4HANA is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Azure Dev Ops and Tricentis Test tools a plus

Applicants can expect a base compensation range of $110,000 to $155,000 annually, plus benefits and additional incentives based on the level of the role. This is the reasonable estimate that Belden believes it might pay for this job based on applicable circumstances at the time of posting. Belden may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law, and commensurate with the applicant's experience, qualifications, and geographical location.
