Job description

POSITION SUMMARY In alignment with company vision, mission, values, and objectives, the technician will troubleshoot, repair, maintain and improve mechanical systems with the intent of improving uptime and efficiency. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Ensures operation of machinery, electrical, and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions. Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical and electrical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.

Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts. Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and/or other measuring instruments. Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.

Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance. Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment. Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.

Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results. Provides mechanical and electrical maintenance information by answering questions and requests. Prepares mechanical and electrical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

Troubleshoot/Diagnose 3-phase, up to 480V causes of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operation equipment, utilizing standard electronic test equipment while referencing technical drawings and documents Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks. Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance functions. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Documents time through work orders and creates notification within SAP CMMS system Uses Quick Kaizens to help with completing root cause analysis Helps to create BOMs for equipment by creating equipment ledgers Create and update documentation of all types: schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, assembly diagrams, maintenance logs, standard operating procedures, and instruction manuals, to keep documentation accurate, available and ready for use as needed. WORKING CONDITIONS Manufacturing plant is not temperature controlled; dust, fumes, and high noise areas are present inside plant areas. Manufacturing processes involve granules, sand, fiberglass, asphalt coating, crushed rock, and polypropylene.

Noise levels exceed 80 dB in some areas of the site. Moving equipment such as fork lifts, buggies, genie booms and industrial sweepers travel throughout the facility, sometimes in congested areas. Requirements QUIRED QUALIFICATIONS MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED Requires a high school diploma or GED.

High School Education and/or AS or AAS Electrical/Electronic Technology Degree, Mechatronics, Industrial Technology or AS or BS in Electronics Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering Technology or Five to ten (5-10) years of professional experience and knowledge in maintenance disciplines, such as automated control systems, safety qualifications, and professional industrial maintenance in a manufacturing environment. Requires adaptability, methodical/analytical problem solving skills, and employee leadership skills with the ability to effectively apply these skills in a manufacturing facility. Team player with good interpersonal skills and written and verbal communication skills to work effectively in corporate, manufacturing and team environments.

Basic typing skills and proficient in utilization of Microsoft Office, including Excel and or Office. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Must be capable of wearing personal protective equipment necessary to comply with government and company safety standards whenever engineered methods of reducing hazards or physical requirements cannot be reasonably accommodated. Job includes tasks that require walking, bending, twisting, gripping, stair and ladder climbing, entering confined spaces, navigating rough terrain and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
