AFA History:AFA was founded in 2002 by a family caregiver to ensure families affected by Alzheimers disease always had a place to turn for guidance, support, and services.

AFA Mission Statement:The mission of the Alzheimers Foundation of America (AFA) is to provide support, services and education to individuals, families and caregivers affected by Alzheimers disease and related dementias nationwide, and fund research for better treatment and a cure.

Position Summary:

The Fundraising & Events Specialist will report directly to the Director of Development
and be responsible for Peer-to-Peer fundraising and the planning and execution of donor events. This position is ideal for a skilled relationship builder who can successfully cultivate productive relationships with corporate partners, donors, volunteers and supporters while managing the full life cycle of events.

Responsibilities:

Fundraising

  • Create annual operational plan including marketing, budgeting, and project management to ensure success of fundraising events and campaigns.
  • Ensure revenue goals are achieved by developing, implementing, and assessing year-round strategic fundraising plans with a focus on key campaign revenue drivers, new volunteers, sponsors, community leaders, donors, team captains, and vendors.
  • Maintain a solid understanding of thevision, mission, priorities, and guiding principles of the organization and funded research to further connect our donors and volunteers relationship with the organization.
  • Solicit national and local sponsorships and in-kind donations
  • Steward the Young Professionals Committee and manage affiliated fundraising events.
  • Prioritize relationship development. Deliver excellent customer service to all donors, participants, corporate partners, and teams by understanding their interests, responding promptly to requests, and providing consistent year-round communication.
  • Manage and execute logistics to provide an inspirational day-of event experience for corporate partners, supporters and volunteers
  • Coordinate and manage raffle and auction efforts for fundraising events, including item solicitation, donor engagement, procurement, tracking, and event-day execution.
  • Maintain accurate and complete database, records and files for fundraising events, programs, and activities.
  • Support other fundraising events, activities and programs as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • 3+ years of non-profit fundraising and event experience required
  • Bachelors degree required
  • Peer-to-peer (P2P) fundraising experience including working knowledge of fundraising platforms
  • Experience with event planning logistics in a fundraising environment
  • Ability and willingness to solicit funds with donors and prospects
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
