Job description

Fulltime MRI Technologist

Physicians' Clinic of Iowa is seeking a fulltime MRI Technologist in our Imaging Department to perform MRI diagnostic imaging exams for our busy multi specialty clinic.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to, the following:

  • Maintain EHR documentation of examinations ordered and performed including proper pre-authorization and coding for reimbursement.
  • Patient exam preparation including interviewing and screening, intravenous access techniques, patient and family education, communication with referring physicians and radiologists. Additional clerical and transport functions as necessary.
  • Perform quality diagnostic MRI exams as defined by established protocols and best practice guidelines.
  • Consult with interpreting radiologist and/or ordering provider when necessary. Secures previous relating exams for comparison.
  • Under the supervision of a physician, performs intravenous contrast injections hand techniques and power injector usage.
  • Proficient in exam archiving, exam navigation, exam exporting in multiple PACS programs.
  • Perform other patient care duties within the scope of practice and to the departmental standards including safety related work behaviors.
  • Performs and maintains quality assurance testing for daily equipment and accreditation compliance. Including ACR accreditation testing.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an approved A.R.R.T. program with current A.R.R.T registration and Iowa Permit to Practice license in Radiography.
  • Board certification MRI is required.
  • Minimum 2 years of MRI technology clinical experience preferred.
  • CPR certification required- ACLS preferred.
  • Ability to perform all MRI procedures demonstrating sound understanding of anatomical positioning and physiology so that independent selection and modification of technical factors may produce optimal scan results.
  • Strong commitment to patient care and teamwork.
  • Excellent communication skills, professionalism, reliability, and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Proficiency (or ability to become proficient) in EMR and related computer systems.
  • Thorough understanding of safety regulations and best practices.
