Job description

Position Summary

Works under limited supervision to perform general clerical work involved in the maintenance, research, storage, and dissemination of criminal history information for the Sheriff's Office. 

Pay Grade: 41
Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education
 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of appropriate clerical, bookkeeping, or statistical work; AND
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
  • PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED. 
     

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs computer name searches in the Jail Management System (JMS), Justice Support Systems (JSS), the Master Index Card File, and the On-Base System.
  • Transfers fingerprints of persons onto cards for purpose of identification and for entry into the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS).
  • Enters identifying information, such as names, addresses, and occupation into JMS.
  • Searches files to make comparisons and update current arrest data to the criminal history file.
  • Photographs persons accused of crimes and prepares fingerprint cards.
  • Operates computerized equipment, including verification terminals, printers for AFIS, JMS, and the On-Base Document Imaging System.
  • Receives, enters, and/or documents current arrestee information into workstation database.
  • Operates office machines such as typewriters, copy machines, and/or cash register daily.
  • Processes misdemeanor citations daily, which include taking photographs, rolling fingerprints, and/or entering prints into the AFIS Verification Station, etc.
  • Files original arrest reports and FBI sheets.
  • Receives and processes r-84 Disposition Forms, Court Ordered Expunged Documents, and Mail-in requests from different agencies daily.
  • Performs other related duties as required or directed.


     

KSAs

  • Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, equipment, and machines.
  • Knowledge of Business English, arithmetic, and data processing.
  • Knowledge of statistical interpretations, procedures, and presentation.
  • Ability to operate selected machines or equipment, typewriter, calculator, copy machines, fax machines, and cash register.
  • Ability to perform a variety of clerical tasks.
     

Special Requirements

  • Must be able to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.
