Store Manager

We are seeking a highly-motivated individual who genuinely loves working with people to be the Store Manager and leader of the team at our Toys"R"Us at South Shore Plaza .

The Store Manager must embody what Toys"R"Us stands for and our Pillars of Play, and must be committed to providing a positive, memorable, and fun experience for all Customers and Associates.

In addition to being responsible for the effective planning and execution of daily operations, team development and sales target achievement, the Store Manager will operate as a conduit between Customers and multiple Home Office functions, including but not limited to Merchandising, Promotions, Events, Training and Finance.

Responsibilities of Store Manager include, but are not limited to:

Creating an Animated, Appealing Environment

  •  Inspire and motivate team by illustrating a clear vision of the Customer experience and the teamwork required to deliver that experience
  •  Embrace new products with a positive attitude and develop a store culture of excitement, enthusiasm and knowledge of our products
  •  Coach team members in anticipating customer needs, encouraging purchase and in creating a store atmosphere that is fun!
  •  Cultivate a strong partnership with the visual merchandising team and flawless execute merchandising standards and marketing strategies 

Building a Customer-centric Team

  •  Recruit, hire, train and retain an Associate team capable of delivering sales targets while maintaining a cheerful, stimulating environment
  •  Provide and communicate clear expectations of Toys"R"Us standards including but not limited to the Customer experience, Visual Merchandising and Operational execution 

Providing Leadership

  •  Develop a store culture of continuous growth and accountability and encourage personal development by: 
  • Holding Associates accountable for demonstrating Customer-centric selling behaviors and for individual sales contributions / total store performance 
  • Delivering training and constructive feedback in timely manner
  • Delivering mid-year and annual reviews for all employees, discussing strengths and opportunities
  •  Build team morale by celebrating successes

Planning & Analyzing the Business

  •  Establish strategic plans to generate sales and drive increases in KPIs 
  •  Analyze KPIs to make real-time business decisions
  •  Ability to establish in-store Event micro-goals and - in partnership with Home Office - assess sales and traffic impact and ROI of Events
  •  Quantitatively link the consistent delivery of the Customer experience to the achievement of sales goals

Teaching what you know and Sharing what you learn

  • Ensure your team has all the information they need to create a captivating in-store experience that will result in sales in-the-moment as well as in the future:
  • Product knowledge
  • Selling skills
  • Engagement methods
  • Clearly and concisely share learnings with Home Office partners, always communicating with a solution-oriented mindset:
  • Customer insights regarding product assortment
  • Constructive feedback regarding in-store Events and/or visual merchandising/product presentation 

Running a Safe, Profitable and Entertaining Store

  •  Ensure all Associates remain updated on company policies and store promotions and are competent in maximizing resources to improve Customer and Associate experiences  
  •  Evaluate stores sales, staffing and payroll budgets and ensure day-to-day operations and schedules align to meet business needs and deliver the Toys"R"Us Customer experience
  •  Consistently aim to protect company assets through:
  • Loss Prevention training and maintaining Loss Prevention protocols 
  • Maintain safety standards
  • Following company policies
  • Managing store supply inventory

Requirements

Qualification/Basic Job Requirements:

  •  BA, BS or Associate's degree required
  •  Preferred professional experience - minimum 2 years in at least one of the below:
  • Retail, Hospitality or Event execution management 
  • Primary or Secondary Education Teaching
  •  Self-motivated, accountable, responsible and open to feedback 
  •  Proven successful experience as a retail store manager with sales focus
  •  A solution-oriented leader with a sense of innovation and curiosity 
  •  Knowledge in retail operations, sales, customer service, merchandising, inventory control, store budget preparation and loss prevention is preferred
  •  Experience in behavioral coaching, conflict management, training and development is a plus
  •  Proficient computer skills ex.: Microsoft office. POS experience preferred 
  •  Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, including but not limited to holidays, nights, and weekends
  •  Ability to manage a sales floor by delegating tasks effectively, ensuring the sales floor remains appropriately stocked and visually merchandised stocked, Associates are Customer-focused and store atmosphere is reflective of Toys"R"Us
  •  Attention to detail
  •  Self-motivated, passionate about the work, lead with optimism and a solution-oriented mindset
