Job description

QUALITY ENGINEER

JOB SUMMARY:  

The Plant Quality Engineer will be responsible for supporting quality activities and provide quality leadership at the plant. Collaborate and train team members for use quality method and tools and support Plant for improvement initiatives.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the manufacturing floor. 

  • Lead investigations into Quality concerns with cross functional team and validate containment in place as required. 

  • Ensure corrective actions are implemented and validated for effectiveness.

  • Verify appropriate document is updated.

  • Maintain quality documentation and obtain customer approval when required. 

  • Conduct Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and validate error proofing on the manufacturing floor is operational. 

  • Responsible for verification of Advance Production Quality Planning (APQP) to floor activities, including identification of new risk in existing production.

  • Lead short-term Quality initiatives to improve Quality Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). 

  • Complete Plant Floor Audits.

  • Analyze the data and implement solutions with cross functional team to improve the results.

  • Conduct Problem Solving and Communicate with the Customer on Quality Concerns (Corrective Actions, Warranty, Customer Audits). 

  • Ensure that all appropriate documentation has been updated.

  • Participate into Engineering Change process to ensure that standards are updated and validated for all changes. 

  • Develop, validate, and verify error proofing implementation in support of process.

  • When required, participate as a member of launch programs in the plant. 

  • Create and validated quality documentation prior to launch of production.

  • All other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical field or 10+ years’ experience; Bachelor’s in Engineering preferred.

  • Experience:  3+ years of experience in AIAG APQP processes.

  • Quality Certification (CQE, Six Sigma Green Belt, CQA, etc.) desirable.

 

TRAVEL:  

  • Travel Required: minimum

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 

  • Subject matter expert in Quality Tools (8D, 5 Why, FMEA, Control Plan, MSA, SPC).

  • Lead cross functional teams in problem solving.

  • Professional communication with internal and external customers.

  • Driven professional with a passion to improve systems and processes.

  • Strong working knowledge in PFMEA and Control Plans.

  • Understanding of IATF 16949 requirements.

  • Demonstrated success as a person who solves problems in a manufacturing operation.

  • Knowledge about Lean manufacturing methods.

  • Understanding of Quality Systems.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with all team members.

  • High level computer skills to include Windows applications, Microsoft Word, Excel.

  • Sense of urgency and an overall customer satisfaction focus.
