Assistant Manager at Shake Shack

Position Summary 

The Assistant Manager supports the day-to-day operations of the restaurant located inside an airport environment. This role ensures exceptional guest service, compliance with airport and company policies, and smooth execution of all operational, financial, and team-related responsibilities. The Assistant Manager acts as a hands-on leader, supporting team members, maintaining brand standards, and stepping in for the General Manager when needed. 

United Concessions Group (UCG) is now hiring Assistant Managers to join their Team at Shake Shack located inside of the Cleveland Hopkins Airport


Location Description: This critically acclaimed, modern day 'roadside' burger stand is known for its 100% all natural Angus beef burgers, chicken sandwiches, griddled flat-top dogs, fresh-made frozen custards, and crisp crinkle-cut fries. Key Responsibilities 

Operations Management 

Oversee daily restaurant operations, ensuring service excellence, cleanliness, and adherence to brand standards. 

 Monitor food preparation, portion control, and quality. 

 Maintain compliance with airport requirements including security, safety protocols, and inspection standards. 

Ensure adherence to health, sanitation, and food safety guidelines. 

Manage cash handling, deposits, and daily operational paperwork. 

 Assist with inventory management, ordering, and waste control. 

Team Leadership 

Support training, and coaching of team members. 

Supervise team members during shifts and ensure adequate staffing levels. 

Provide clear direction to team members to maintain service standards and productivity. 

Promote a positive, inclusive, and respectful work environment. 

Support corrective action processes when needed. 

Guest Service 

Ensure fast, friendly, and professional service for all travelers and airport team members. 

Resolve guest concerns professionally and efficiently. 

 Monitor dining room, service counter, and kitchen for maximum guest satisfaction. 

Financial & Performance Accountability 

Assist in managing labor, food cost, and operating budgets within company guidelines. 

Support sales-building initiatives, promotions, and upselling. 

 Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce waste. 

Compliance & Safety 

 Maintain full compliance with TSA, airport authority, concessionaire rules, and company policies. 

Ensure team members follow security procedures including restricted-area access and badge control. 

Perform regular safety inspections and resolve hazards quickly. 

Qualifications 

2+ years of supervisory or management experience in a restaurant, hospitality, or food-service environment; airport experience preferred. 

Strong understanding of restaurant operations, food safety, and customer service. 

Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. 

Excellent communication and leadership skills. 

Ability to obtain and maintain airport security badging (including background check). 

Flexible schedule; must be able to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
