Hotel Director of Sales (DOS)

Monterey, CA area

ISC’s team of Hospitality Recruiters is partnering with a leading and highly ranked luxury property on a Director of Sales (DOS) opportunity in the sunny Monterey Peninsula. We are seeking an accomplished and visionary (Hotel) Director of Sales who is passionate about developing and executing innovative short and long-term strategies to maximize revenue across all property outlets, including rooms, meetings, events, and F&B operations

The ideal Director of Sales will bring proven hospitality sales leadership, a drive for delivering exceptional guest experiences, and the ability to position the property as a premier destination in its market

100% onsite: Managing a team of 7+ direct reports

Director of Sales Responsibilities- Duties for this role include:

  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans designed to drive revenue, strengthen brand positioning, and optimize profitability across all business segments
  • Manage day-to-day department operations, including scheduling, recruiting, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity to determine pricing strategies that balance cost, competition, and demand
  • Prepare and present accurate sales reports and budgets, highlighting market share, direct sales results, and upcoming strategic initiatives
  • Lead the group meetings and events (MICE) sales strategy to grow market share, build strong planner relationships, and position the resort as a preferred destination for corporate and incentive events
  • Develop partnerships with key travel consortia, networks, and agencies to maximize leisure revenue and enhance visibility in target markets
  • Drive proactive sales efforts, including client outreach, site visits, FAM trips, and participation in trade shows, to build lasting client relationships
  • Leverage technology and analytics, including CRM systems, digital automation, and AI-driven insights, to identify new business opportunities and track ROI across channels
  • Collaborate with revenue management to align group and leisure sales with pricing strategies, distribution, and demand forecasts
  • Oversee creation of compelling proposals, presentations, and offers tailored to client needs, ensuring a competitive edge in the marketplace
  • Evaluate performance of sales initiatives and provide actionable insights to executive leadership for continuous improvement

Director of Sales Requirements- To qualify, you should possess:

  • 3+ years’ Director-level experience in luxury or upscale hotel/resort sales
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, or a related field 

(or equivalent education and experience)

  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing sales strategies, leading sales teams, demonstrating technical knowledge, and driving measurable results
  • In-depth knowledge of MICE, leisure, and digital best practices
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach to take talented team to next level
  • Proficiency in CRM and revenue management systems, as well as analytics tools
