WHO WE ARE
Hotels done differently. It's not just a slogan or catchphrase, it is who we are in everything we do. We believe in the power of People, Place and Character; ensuring our properties are a place where individuals are valued and celebrated as a tribute to the neighborhoods and the people of the communities in which we operate; elevating our associates' pride in who they are, where they live and who we serve.
Hewing Hotel is in Minneapolis' vibrant North Loop neighborhood, more commonly known as the Warehouse District, joining cultural stalwarts Traffic Zone Center for Visual Arts and Target Field, home to baseball's Minnesota Twins. With easy access to all interstates as well as Minneapolis' Metro Transit Blue Line and Northstar Commuter Rail, The Hewing sits at the literal crossroads of the Twin Cities.
While Minneapolis presents a plethora of hospitality options, none tap into the local culture to create importance and significance beyond the business traveler. The Hewing occupies the historic Jackson Building, originally built in 1897, at the gateway to the Warehouse District, immediately tying it to local culture like no other competitor.
Since its founding, Aparium has grown into a new kind of hotel brand, one that ventures off the beaten path, both geographically and philosophically. It is a sophisticated hotel brand known for its singular ability to combine the business acumen of large hospitality companies with the charm of boutique hotels, bringing the disparate forces together in bustling, smaller markets.
WHO YOU ARE
You are a perfectionist by nature and know that anything worth doing is worth doing well. You are someone who doesn't settle for ordinary, and have an aversion to blasé service, knowing that effort and spontaneity are the alchemy for the extraordinary. You are genuine, yet polished, and aren't afraid to venture outside of the norm and do things differently. You obsess over the details (the Science) and presentation (the Art), striving to create an experience that surprises and inspires. You relish the opportunity to be part of the distinctive soul of a unique hotel, where your creativity and passion are appreciated, supported, and expected.
THE ROLE
The Ambassador role is not a front desk receptionist hiding behind a desk, generating paperwork, and swiping credit cards. At Hewing Hotel, the Ambassador owns the guest experience, ensuring that no need goes unmet and no opportunity to make a guest's visit special is missed. The ambassadors are exquisite hosts, just as comfortable arranging the details of a surprise proposal, as they are giving a hotel tour to a curious neighbor or maneuvering a bell cart. The Ambassador knows the ins and outs of both the hotel and the surrounding community. They have a gracious demeanor and warm presence which makes every guest entering the lobby feel at ease, knowing that they have selected the right place. This position turns details and tidbits about guests into recognition and actions that make a stay at Hewing Hotel a personal, one-of-a-kind experience.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Understand guest service needs and exceed guest expectations by taking advantage of opportunities to add a special touch
  • Greet guests who arrive to the hotel by welcoming them to the hotel
  • Handle guest check-ins/check-outs in accordance with hotel standards in an efficient and friendly manner
  • Deliver luggage to room upon check-in and picks up luggage from room upon departure
  • Provide recognition to repeat guests
  • Maintain and adhere to hotel policies regarding a cash bank and makes daily deposits with accurate report of receipts daily
  • Maintain a good working relationship with other associates by promoting teamwork and fostering a harmonious working climate
  • Demonstrate a positive work ethic
  • Demonstrate the ability to work without direct supervision
  • Demonstrate a high degree of drive and determination
  • Keep the work area clean and tidy at all times
  • Properly handle and report associate and guest accidents
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards
  • Assist with responsibilities and duties in other departments and as assigned by management
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
  • Passion for the people, place, and culture of our community
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a guest services environment preferred
  • Strong reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language
  • Strong computer skills with an ability to work at a computer for a majority of an eight hour shift
  • The ability to stand or walk 100% of an eight hour shift
  • The ability to lift or carry up to 70 lbs
  • The ability to push or pull a cart carrying up to 150 lbs
  • The ability to bend and/or kneel frequently
  • The ability to work in a dog-friendly work environment

As an Equal Opportunity Employer, Aparium Hospitality Services celebrates diversity and is committed to creating an equitable and inclusive environment, and a sense of belonging for all associates.
