VACANCY: The Valley View Public School District is seeking an individual to fill a part-time (4 hours, Approx.10:00 AM - 02:00 PM) Cafeteria Helper position at Romeoville High School.
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the performance of multiple tasks associated with assisting the building maintenance repairman with housekeeping duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Performs general housekeeping and cleaning duties related to the school lunch program such as, but not limited to:
  • Setting up and taking down lunch tables
  • Collection and disposal of trash
  • Cleaning of cafeteria tables and benches
  • Mopping the cafeteria floor

When necessary, other specific duties may be assigned that are in line with this job classification.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others, take direction from appropriate supervisors
  • Ability to identify and report problems and building needs to the appropriate supervisors
  • Familiar and willing to perform the quantity and quality of work expected in a safety conscious manner
  • Must serve as a role model for all students and perform their duties to create an environment that is conducive to providing students an enhanced and engaged learning opportunity
  • Must be in good health and present a negative TB test and physical

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY: The work year for this position is 174 days. Work is performed in an environment where unusual temperature and hazards are relatively nonexistent. The noise level is moderate to loud, must have the ability to walk, sit, bend and stand on feet for the majority of the shift; must also be able to lift and move objects up to 40 lbs. consistently with heavier weight necessary at times.
