Job description

A hospital in Lufkin, TX is seeking a Gastroenterologist with ERCP capabilities for ongoing locum coverage beginning January 2026. This role is 100% inpatient, covering in-house consults, ER consults, and procedures.

Assignment Details

Schedule: 24-hour call (7a 7a)
Setting: Inpatient only
Location: St. Luke s Health Memorial Lufkin Lufkin, TX
EMR: Paragon (transitioning to Epic later in 2026)
Support Staff: Endoscopy-trained GI nursing, anesthesia available, conscious sedation preferred
Timeframe: days credentialing (emergency privileges available for clean files)

Clinical Scope

  • Daily Census: Up to 10 inpatient rounds + procedures as needed

  • Cases: GI bleeds, abdominal pain, SBO, food bolus, ulceration, gastritis, carcinoma diagnosis (no treatment)

  • Hospitalists handle admissions

Submission Requirements

  • Board Certified in Gastroenterology (Preferred) or Board Eligible

  • Active TX license Required

  • Completed GI fellowship

  • ACLS Required

  • Clean malpractice highly preferred

  • Availability listed for each month (required for name clear)

  • Notable deal breakers:
