Substitute Paraeducator

The Fort Dodge Community School District welcomes interested applicants to complete a Substitute Paraeducator Application.ย  Read on to learn more about this vital, needed role, and how you can become part of our educational team!
Paraeducators, or teaching assistants, work with students in general and special education classrooms. They provide needed support to students and teachers as they help students stay on task, encourage participation and good behavior, and meet individualized needs of diverse learners.ย 
We have a need for paraeducators:
  • On-call, as-needed basis, often daily.
  • For half day, full day, and long term assignments.
  • In all buildings, from our Early Learning Center to our Senior High and PRIDE program.
What makes a great paraeducator substitute?
  • Able to work-often on short notice.
  • Patient, kind, and understanding.
  • Passionate about working with children.
  • Willing to support students and teachers socially, emotionally, physically, and educationally.

PAY RATES:
Base rate: $13.82 per hour.
Add .30 per hour if you have a Paraeducator Certification or teaching license
(must provide a copy to HR for personnel file)
Add .40 per hour if you have 60+ college credits
(must provide a copy or
transcripts showing 60+ to HR for personnel file)
