Job description

About Prysmian

Prysmian powers and connects the world. As the global leader in energy and telecom cable systems, we produce extensive ranges of underground and submarine power cables, plus optical fiber, copper solutions, and connectivity that move voice, video, and data. With 30,000 colleagues across 50+ countries, we invite you to shape whatโ€™s next with us. Make Your Mark at Prysmian.

A day in the life โ€” Du Quoin, IL

Sunrise over our Du Quoin, IL facility finds you reviewing the plan for your production area, which manufactures low- and medium-voltage power cables. You scan material availability, confirm machine readiness, and align your teamโ€™s training and work assignments so the line starts cleanly and stays on schedule.

On the floor, youโ€™re a visible, steady presenceโ€”coaching safe behaviors, reinforcing standard work, and removing roadblocks. You hold the team accountable to procedures that reduce scrap and waste, monitor quality, and maintain flow. When something threatens uptime, you coordinate the right maintenance support to keep production continuous.

Throughout the shift, you capture attendance, call-ins, and overtime, approving time accurately in ADP. You address first-step grievances in accordance with established policy, and you facilitate daily Tier communications, visual management, and other PG1OPS lean practices (including 6S and RTFT). As the shift concludes, you hand off a clear, data-backed status so the next team can run.

What youโ€™ll lead
  • Supervise and coordinate one or more major manufacturing areas on an assigned shift.
  • Plan production using current knowledge of processes and equipment to hit targets.
  • Ensure operators have materials, clear instructions, machine access, and the training required to deliver safely and on time.
  • Evaluate individual performance; drive efficiency, quality, and adherence to procedures.
  • Maintain accurate shift records: attendance, absences, call-ins, and overtime; approve time in ADP.
  • Handle first-step grievances per policy and foster a fair, respectful workplace.
  • Champion lean tools across PG1OPS: 6S, Visual Management, RTFT, and Tier Communication.
  • Coordinate needed maintenance to sustain continuous production.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally and perform related duties as assigned.
Scope

Direct leadership of hourly union associates with frequent coordination across operations, maintenance, quality, materials, and other departments.

What you bring
  • Proven results in a high-performance manufacturing environment and prior leadership experience.
  • Meticulous attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Motivational communicator who champions continuous improvement.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication.
  • Planning, leadership, computer, and administrative proficiency.
  • High energy, urgency, adaptability, and professional demeanor through change.
  • Solid grasp of business fundamentals; acts as a change agent to improve results.
Preferred background
  • 4+ years in a manufacturing environment.
  • 1โ€“3 years supervising a large team in manufacturing (highly preferred).
  • Strong project management capability.
Education

Bachelorโ€™s degree in a related field preferred.
