Job description

Farnsworth Group is seeking a Civil 3D Designer (Energy & Utilities). This remote-based role is posted and available for candidates not local to an existing Farnsworth Group location. In this role, you will work with the Energy & Utilities team in the drafting, design, permitting and construction administration of industrial projects. Focus will primarily be on oil & gas, wind, solar and utility projects.
What You'll Do:
  • Preparing topographic and civil alignment/profile and utility drawings, as well as occasional work on other engineering discipline's drawings.
  • Preparing civil based drawings, as well as occasional facility and/or process piping drawings.
  • Preparing easement exhibits with guidance from a licensed surveyor.
  • Assist with proposal development by providing estimated hours to complete the scope of work.
  • Mentor junior CAD staff. Supervise junior CAD staff, a plus.
  • Provide QA/QC of CAD design team deliverables including review and feedback of the respective native design files.
  • Collaborate with the CAD design team including implementation of processes and procedures for continual improvement.
  • Execute multi-discipline projects including collaboration with Project Managers, Engineering Leads, and/or other CAD staff including CADWorx designers.
  • Prepare civil and mechanical based as-built drawings.

What You'll Need:
  • Associates or Technical Degree in Computer Aided Drafting/Design, or similar field
  • BS in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical or Petroleum Engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum, a plus
  • 10+ years of experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D to design and prepare construction drawings.
  • Flexibility to perform design, drafting and recognize the importance of meeting stringent deadlines in an often fast-paced environment
  • Ability to effectively plan & manage time commitments on multiple concurrent projects
  • Candidate should be team-oriented, highly motivated with a strong work ethic, and have the ability to work well with minimal direction
  • Strong understanding of CAD standards, features and annotation styles, line styles, and drawing setup
  • General knowledge of survey coordinate systems and geospatial information systems (GIS)
  • Communicate effectively with a variety of project team members
