Job description

Job Title: Civil 3D Designer / Civil Drafter

Job Description

This role focuses on civil site development and stormwater management projects, supporting the full design and permitting process for civil and building projects related to retail petroleum facilities, gas stations, marina fueling, and above-ground and below-ground petroleum tanks. You will develop detailed construction documents, including grading and drainage design, and, depending on your experience, contribute to stormwater modeling using industry-standard software.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed civil site development plans and construction documents using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Create accurate grading and drainage designs for a variety of civil and building projects.
  • Support stormwater management design and modeling using software such as ICPR, POND, HydroCAD, or similar tools, depending on experience.
  • Interpret survey data and engineering calculations to produce precise civil drawings and site layouts.
  • Prepare civil drafting and CAD documents for land development and civil engineering design projects.
  • Coordinate civil site design elements for retail petroleum facilities, gas stations, marina fueling locations, and above-ground and below-ground petroleum tank installations.
  • Assist with the design and permitting documentation for civil and building projects, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architectural drafters, permitting staff, and other team members to deliver complete and accurate project packages.
  • Review drawings and designs for accuracy, clarity, and constructability, maintaining a high level of attention to detail.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil site development or civil/site drafting.
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D for civil drafting and design.
  • Experience in grading and drainage design, including preparation of grading and drainage plans.
  • Working knowledge of stormwater modeling software such as ICPR, POND, HydroCAD, or similar tools.
  • Ability to interpret survey data and engineering calculations and translate them into accurate civil drawings.
  • Solid understanding of land development and civil engineering design principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce civil CAD drawings for site design and civil drafting projects.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, accurate work.
  • Ability to manage workload effectively and meet project deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with retail petroleum and fueling facilities, including gas stations, airports, fleet fueling locations, truck stops, or similar sites.
  • Familiarity with underground fuel storage systems and associated site constraints.
  • Experience with Florida land development or stormwater permitting processes.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with civil engineers, structural designers, architectural drafters, traffic engineers, and permitting staff.
  • Comfort working in a small, multidisciplinary team with engineering, construction, and environmental departments.
  • Strong communication skills to clearly present and discuss design concepts and drafting work.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Deerfield Beach, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
