Job description

Build world-class tooling with precision in Chesterfield, MI

Join an established Tool & Die operation as a hands-on Mastercam expert. You’ll split your time between the computer and the machine, programming complex 3D paths and machining critical details that support new tooling launches, die repairs, and engineering changes.

Success in this role hinges on deep 3D Mastercam capability. If most of your background is limited to 2D paths, this opportunity won’t be the right match.

A day in the shop
  • Create 2D and 3D CNC programs in Mastercam for form steels, die sections, and intricate Tool & Die components
  • Develop 3D cutter paths for complex geometries and replacement details for damaged tooling
  • Machine details directly from CAD models and blueprint drawings
  • Set up and run CNC equipment with Fanuc controls
  • Hold tight tolerances and deliver quality with minimal supervision
  • Select optimal tooling, speeds/feeds, clamping, and cutting strategies
  • Inspect work using micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, and other precision instruments
  • Troubleshoot both machining and programming challenges
  • Partner closely with Tool & Die and Engineering teammates
  • Wire EDM exposure is a plus
What you bring
  • 5+ years of CNC programming/machining experience preferred
  • Hands-on 3D Mastercam programming expertise is required
  • Background in Tool & Die programming/machining strongly preferred
  • Proven experience with cutter paths for complex 3D forms and die sections
  • Strong CNC setup and machining fundamentals
  • Comfort with Fanuc controls
  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T
  • Solid understanding of speeds, feeds, tooling, and material behavior
  • Ability to work independently from CAD data and prints
  • Personal tools and reliable transportation
Schedule
  • Monday–Friday: 5:00 AM–4:30 PM
  • Saturday: 5:00 AM–11:00 AM as needed
  • Regular overtime available
Compensation
  • $28–$34 per hour, based on experience
  • Direct Hire
Benefits
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off
  • Life insurance
  • Supplemental accident, critical illness, and hospital indemnity coverage
Proficiencies
  • CNC Programming
  • CNC Machine Setup & Changeover
Technology
  • CAM Software: Mastercam
