Job description

Mobile Staff Solutions is now hiring Manual Machinists in the Tampa and Lakeland areas! This is a temporary to permanent position.

Manual Machinist (Manual Lathe, Mill & Saw)

Temp to Perm Position Pay DOE $22-$36 an hour

POSITION SUMMARY: The Manual Machinist is responsible for machining parts to specification, setting up and operating Mills and/or Lathes to fabricate metallic and non-metallic parts, saw cutting stock material, maintaining quality and safety standards, checking each part and recording their measurements, maintaining traceability on the product and documentation, and performing preventative maintenance and service on machines and equipment. You will also regulate machining factors like speed, feed, coolant flow, depth and angle of cut. You will assist in general housekeeping and making suggestions for improvement of machining, quality, and safety processes.

Minimum EXPERIENCE & Education-

MUST HAVES / EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

1. Formal training in manual lathes and mills

2. Minimum 2-year experience operating Manual machines

3. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

4. Capable of holding close tolerances required.

5. Can use and understand inspection tools and interpret blueprints.

6. Mechanical and mathematical knowledge preferred.

7. Ability and desire to work overtime and weekends as required.

8. HS Diploma or equivalent

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, ETC:

1. Effective writing and communication skills

2. Capable of managing and completing multiple tasks accurately and expeditiously

3. Detail-oriented

4. Close attention to accuracy

5. Operate a forklift

6. Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize work independently and establish goals and objectives with little or no supervision

7. Must have good math skills

8. Must have good mechanical and technical skills

9. Must have the ability to recognize when there is a problem and communicate the existence of a problem with expedience.

10. Operate overhead and jib cranes

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

1. Works injury free, achieves an injury-free working environment, and maintains the highest Health, Safety and Environmental (Q.A.) standards in our industry.

2. Strives for continuous improvement in the efficiency of production of product.

3. Adheres to all company Quality and Q.A. standards.

4. Manufactures product to customer and industry standards and specifications.

5. Applies traceability, performs 100% inspection & documentation, and utilizes prevention/detection methods for every manufacturing task.

6. Inspects MTE’s for accuracy prior to each shift and as necessary when maintaining close tolerances or any event such as rough handling raises concern.

7. Confers with the Programmer, Manufacturing Manager, and the Lead Machinist in determining the kind of tooling and equipment needed to do a job

8. Ensures preparations are made prior to starting set-up operations on the “next” job.

9. Observes and monitors gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure the machine is working properly.

10. Fits and assembles parts to make or repair machine tools.

11. Performs routine maintenance and inspections on machines and equipment.

12. Assist in the design of fixtures and tooling to meet special needs.

13. Performs set-up and operation of metalworking and cutting equipment.

14. Effectively communicates with management, providing updates on run times, scheduling, and all machine related activities.

15. Inspects equipment, structures, tooling, fixtures, processes, and material to determine the cause of errors or other problems and defects.

16. Handles and moves objects and materials with forklift and cranes.

17. Sets up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting chucks, magnets, vices, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, stock pushers; indicating vices and tramming heads.

18. Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling, and threading operations

19. Takes measurements, detects malfunctions, troubleshoots processes, adjusts and reprograms controls, sharpens and replaces worn tools.

20. Machines parts to specification, measuring testing or examining in-process product for defects to ensure conformance using precision instruments like micrometers.

21. Aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto the machines.

22. Monitors the feed speed of machines during machining process.

23. Confers with the Lead Machinist to check and ensure that new programs or machinery will function properly so that output will meet specifications.

24. Set up, adjust, and operate basic or specialized machine tools used to perform precision machining operations.

25. Diagnoses machine tool malfunctions to define need for adjustments or repairs.

26. Saw cuts stock material to specifications listed on router.
