Training Coordinator (Manufacturing)

📍 Birchwood Foods | Columbus, Ohio


The Training Coordinator - Manufacturing, is an integral part of the hiring and education process within the company. This role collaborates closely with Operations, Safety, FSQA, Production, and Human Resources leaders to develop, implement, and manage training programs that support employee success and operational excellence.


As a Training Coordinator, your primary focus is the creation of training programs for our hourly manufacturing associates. You will work closely with our HR, Safety, FSQA & Production teams to lead Train the Trainer certification, the creation of Standard of Work Instructions (SWI) and the approval process, creation of Job Instruction Training, as well as coordinate training timetables for JIT with production department management, with responsibility to oversee the administration of employee training within our manufacturing facility.


This position works in partnership with the Corporate Director of Learning & Development and the Director of Operations to strengthen employee capabilities and support business objectives.


What You'll Do

  • Lead the development and implementation of Standard Work Instructions (SWIs) and Job Instruction Training (JIT) programs for manufacturing associates.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Safety, FSQA, HR, and Production teams to identify training needs and skill gaps.
  • Design and develop learning solutions using proven training methodologies, including:
  • Needs assessments
  • Employee surveys
  • Focus groups
  • SME and leadership input
  • Direct workplace observation
  • Coordinate and facilitate Train-the-Trainer certification programs.
  • Create engaging training materials, curriculum, and learning content to support workforce development.
  • Develop and implement skills assessments and training validation methods.
  • Schedule and coordinate training activities with production leadership to minimize business disruption.
  • Measure training effectiveness through employee feedback, performance metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate training records, documentation, and compliance requirements.
  • Conduct regular meetings with management teams to identify opportunities for employee development and operational improvement.


What We're Looking For:

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience developing, implementing, and evaluating training programs, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience creating and delivering workforce training and learning solutions.
  • Strong ability to build relationships and collaborate with employees and leaders at all organizational levels.
  • Experience working with a Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in food manufacturing or a highly regulated production environment.
  • Multilingual capabilities strongly preferred.
  • Experience creating Standard Work Instructions, work instructions, or process documentation.
