Job description

A Tire Technician is responsible for inspecting, repairing, rotating, balancing, and installing tires on various vehicles. They ensure vehicle safety and performance, operating shop equipment like lifts, balancers, and pneumatic tools to service passenger cars, commercial trucks including semis, or fleet vehicles.

Core Responsibilities
  • Inspection & Assessment: Check tire tread levels, wear patterns, valve quality, and overall health to determine if repair or replacement is needed.
  • Installation & Removal: Mount and dismount tires using specialized machinery.
  • Balance & Alignment: Perform wheel balancing and alignment procedures to ensure a smooth, safe ride and prevent uneven tire wear.
  • Repair: Patch punctures, plug leaks, and replace faulty valves.
  • Rotation: Move tires to different positions on the vehicle to maximize tire lifespan.
  • Customer Service: Advise management on tire maintenance, wear issues, and recommend the best products for their vehicles and driving habits.
  • Inventory Management: Organize and maintain tire inventory, ensuring popular sizes and brands are stocked.
  • Safety & Compliance: Abide by strict safety protocols, maintain a clean workspace, and dispose of old tires according to environmental regulations.
    • Key Skills & Qualifications
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and automotive diagnostic machinery.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to frequently lift heavy objects (50+ lbs), bend, and stand for extended periods in a shop environment.
  • Communication: Strong customer service skills and the ability to clearly explain mechanical issues to vehicle owners.
