Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Oncology/Telemetry position requiring Epic experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details
  • Med/Surg Tele unit within an oncology hospital setting
  • Patient population includes soft tissue malignancy patients receiving diagnostic services, chemotherapy, and symptom management
  • Patients require continuous cardiac monitoring related to chemotherapy administration
  • Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • 16-week assignment on a rotating 12-hour day/night schedule (3x12s)
  • Shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on staffing needs
  • Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity level
  • Uses B450 GE telemetry monitors, bladder scanners, Alaris pumps, and Stryker beds
Requirements
  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of current acute care RN experience in the specialty, within the last 12 months
  • BLS certification required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Oncology experience preferred but not required
  • Skills required: interpretation of dysrhythmias, port access, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care, IV starts, chest tube insertion/removal assistance, high flow nasal cannula, and ABG interpretation
  • Additional preferred skills include chemotherapy administration, BiPAP/CPAP management, PCA management, and insulin drip titration
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager or director-level leader and the second from a charge RN or higher; coworker references not accepted
Additional Information
  • Provide oncology-focused med/surg telemetry nursing care including chemotherapy administration and symptom management for patients with soft tissue malignancies
  • Candidates are encouraged to bring a willingness to learn and grow their nursing practice
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • RTO must be submitted with the contract and limited to 7 days or less
  • Former employees eligible for travel assignments after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees of the health system are ineligible for travel assignments at any location within the system
  • Candidates must promptly complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements upon signing the contract to avoid delays
