Job description

Job Summary

As a Team Leader in Visual Merchandising, you’ll be responsible for setting the strategic direction of the in-store visual activities in order to promote the sale of products and services. You’ll bring your creativity and leadership abilities to combining products, environments and spaces into stimulating and engaging displays. Leaders are accountable for the operating performance of the assigned department(s) at all times. Be a Leader by representing the organization in a professional manner. Promote and develop individuals with mutual respect, inclusion, diversity and dignity. Coach Team Members on a regular basis with timely feedback — identify opportunities for development and coach for success.

Job Description

Experience Required: 1 to 3 years
Experience Desired: 1-3 years of management experience preferred within the marketing, merchandising or retail industry.
Education Desired: High school diploma or equivalent plus 18 months to 3 years of additional training
Lifting Requirement: Up to 25 pounds
Travel Required: Regional - Daily, Less than 10%
Job Responsibilities
  • Your principal, main, major or most important duty includes one or some combination of the following tasks:
  • 1. interview, select and train Team Members;
  • 2. direct the work of Team Members;
  • 3. appraise Team Members’ productivity and efficiency for the purpose of recommending promotions or other changes in status;
  • 4. handle Team Member issues including, but not limited to complaints;
  • 5. discipline Team Members;
  • 6. plan the work;
  • 7. distribute or assign the work among Team Members;
  • 8. provide for the safety and security of Team Members or the store;
  • 9. manage the budget for your department or location;
  • 10. manage inventory for your department or location; or
  • 11. monitor or implement compliance measures
  • Develop future leaders, identify Team Members who are poised to rise through the ranks and remember our people are our best asset!
  • Nurture an environment of inclusion and diversity, giving each Team Member a voice.
  • Maintain safety as the top priority in all aspects of our work: for Team Members, for guests and for products.
  • Inspire the team and our guests with a passion for food and a willingness to go the extra mile to provide the best product.
  • Make innovative plans and suggestions to improve our business.
  • Maintain the inventory, fixtures and props used throughout the store in order to ensure the safety of all Team Members, guests and quality of the displays.
  • Research visual merchandising trends in the retail industry by visiting local competitors and searching Giant Eagle, Inc. online.
  • Read trade magazines and blogs in order to stay competitive edge and provide up-to-date, fresh ideas.
  • Analyze Guest and Team Member Point of View surveys with an eye for constantly improving service and scores.
  • Construct compelling displays to stimulate top-line sales with merchandise, fixtures and props in accordance to Company standards and methods in order to bring the "Wow!" and create a magical experience for our guests.
  • Walk the sales floor daily either alone, with the Graphic Artists or other Leaders and look for opportunities to maximize the “Wow!” factor.
  • Prepare for our weekly merchandising meetings by gathering, organizing and prioritizing all relevant information.
  • Make innovative merchandising plans and suggestions in order to improve our business.

The hiring range for this position is $17.90– $20.875 per hour/year. This range represents the anticipated base pay for this role. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, education, and location. Eligible employees may be offered health, vision, and dental insurance, personal/sick paid time, 401(k) retirement savings plan, bonus potential, paid bereavement, vacation and paid holidays.
