What We Look For In a PE - Structural Tutor
  • Advanced Test Mastery: Deep knowledge of PE Structural examination content covering structural analysis, steel design, concrete design, timber design, masonry design, seismic design, and foundation design for both vertical and lateral force components. Ability to explain building code applications, load combinations, and advanced structural design procedures while preparing licensed engineers for PE Structural certification.
  • Strategic Test-Taking & Problem-Solving: Skilled at teaching code-based structural design, load path analysis, and seismic design methodology for PE Structural examination. Guides students through applying ASCE 7 load provisions, designing steel and concrete members using AISC and ACI codes, performing seismic force calculations, and analyzing lateral force-resisting systems. Emphasizes code navigation efficiency and multi-step design problem-solving under examination conditions.
  • Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with PE Structural examination format and common challenges such as managing the breadth of structural codes, performing complex seismic analysis, and completing design problems within time limits. Adapts instruction using structural design references, practice examination problems, and code application exercises to support licensed engineers preparing for PE Structural specialization certification.
  • Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
  • Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
  • Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
