Job description

Description:

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review and follow up on stalled, denied, and/or pending claims to identify and resolve billing, coding, and documentation issues.
  • Review coder notes, clinical documentation, scanned records, and applicable system information to identify documentation needed to support accurate coding and reimbursement.
  • Coordinate with physicians, referring providers, coders, and billing partners to obtain clarification, additional documentation, or physician addenda needed for claim resolution.
  • Review clinical and exam information for discrepancies that may affect coding or billing and make appropriate updates within authorized systems.
  • Track, attach, and update supporting documentation and physician addenda in applicable billing and claim portals. 
  • Monitor claim status and communicate outstanding issues to ensure timely resolution and resubmission.
  • Identify recurring documentation, coding, billing, and reimbursement issues and communicate opportunities for process improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records of claim resolution activities and handle confidential patient and financial information in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
  • Perform basic revenue cycle reporting and analysis as needed, including review of denials, accounts receivable, reimbursement trends, and other key metrics.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Knowledge of healthcare billing, coding, claims, reimbursement, and clinical documentation.
  • Experience with EHR, practice management, billing, or physician portal systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify documentation and claim discrepancies.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively work with physicians, coders, and billing personnel.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and maintain confidentiality in a remote environment.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Health Information Management, or a related field preferred.
  • 2–5 years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle, medical billing, finance, or healthcare analytics.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee will perform duties from a home office or other approved remote location and will routinely use electronic health records, billing systems, physician portals, email, Microsoft Teams, and other technology to communicate and complete assigned responsibilities.
