Reports to:Project Manager/Assistant Project Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

Hours: 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM (One (1) Hour Lunch) unless otherwise dictated by Project Manager; 45-50-hour work week

Job Location:3500 Alum Creek Drive, Columbus, OH 43207; Jobsites as assigned, this position is primarily in person with hybrid or remote work capabilities

General Overview:Under the direction of a Project Manager or Assistant Project Manager, a Project Engineer will contribute to Jobsite planning, productivity, safety, and efficiency. The Project Engineers duties will include all Project Administrator duties in addition to those listed below. This person should consistently demonstrate Integrity, Gratitude, Excellence, and Leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Knows the Project better than the Customer
  • Serves as a backup to the Project Administrator
  • Tracks project quantities and understands the relationship to revenue
  • Collects, organizes, and maintains project documents in appropriate software
  • Communicates project changes to Project Team and Contract Manager as needed
  • Assists with Requests for Information (RFI), including logging, tracking and communicating information to internal team members
  • Assists with writing Subcontracts as needed
  • Produces purchase orders
  • Itemizes and codes invoices from vendors and subcontractors
  • Acquires and submits shop drawings and ensures alignment with contract documents
  • Assists with the management of submittals by coordinating with materials suppliers, logging documentation and tracking progress
  • Tracks, prices, and submits extra work items
  • Creates and maintains project schedules
  • Submits closeout documents and As-Builts as required
  • Prepares for and attends internal and external meetings
  • Communicates with jobsite leadership daily and other departments as needed
  • Assists with estimating additional work
  • Prioritizes tasks and deadlines with a high level of organization
  • Knows and adheres to all company policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, digital platforms, and systems, skilled at handling multiple documents and files with accuracy, ability to be highly organized; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, including the ability to speak publicly, ability to read and comprehend information from written materials, and ability to follow verbal and written instructions; ability to solve problems and make independent decisions with guidance; ability to work independently and in a team environment in a fast-paced and dynamic setting, and ability to learn new skills; ability to travel to and from the primary workplace daily and to occasional off-site locations such as job sites; ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods, and ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or similar field of study or two to four years of experience in the Construction Industry, or have completed an internship at the Company required
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening. (George J. Igel & Co., Inc. is a BWC Drug-Free Workplace and tests for marijuana)
  • Must maintain an MVR (motor Vehicle Record) that meets the Company's eligibility requirements
