Job description

Job Title: IT Analyst (Hybrid IT Analyst / IT Business Analyst)

Location: Columbus, OH (Hybrid - Onsite 3 days per week)

Duration: 1-Year Contract-to-Hire

Rate: $60 - $65/hr (W2)

Position Overview

We are seeking an IT Analyst, for our client, with strong IT Business Analyst skills to support requirements gathering, application support oversight, vendor management, and customer engagement activities across the IT organization. This hybrid role combines business analysis, operational support coordination, and service management responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical thinking, stakeholder management skills, and experience working in a multi-vendor environment supporting enterprise applications.

Key Experience RequirementsIT Business Analyst Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough requirements gathering, documentation, and analysis (CBAP certification a plus).

  • Ensure traceability of business requirements to functional requirements, user stories, and test cases.

  • Lead stakeholder meetings in a structured, organized manner.

  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to resolve issues.

  • Maintain strong customer and vendor relationship management skills.

IT Analyst Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships across supported business units.

  • Manage service partners to meet application support SLAs.

  • Provide ongoing reporting to customers on:

    • Application portfolio

    • Incident and request status

    • Environment health

    • Roadmap updates

  • Collaborate with service partners on application knowledge, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.

  • Apply strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in IT, Business, or related field.

  • 3-4 years of experience in application services, analysis, deployment, or support.

  • Experience working closely with service providers, delegating operational activities, and overseeing vendor performance.

  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure, software component relationships, on-premise solutions, and SaaS platforms.

  • Strong proficiency with MS Office, MS Project, and the ability to learn new technical concepts quickly.

  • Strong analytical skills including process analysis, root cause analysis, and development of improvement recommendations.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, collaboration, negotiation, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to travel to client's business unit or service provider locations as needed.

  • 2+ years experience working with support vendors in a software support environment.

  • Knowledge of ITIL processes and metrics.

Lead Analyst (Preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience leading software implementation requirement sessions and documenting business, functional, and nonfunctional requirements.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in technical delivery environments.

  • Understanding of project management fundamentals (PMP certification is a plus).

  • Proven success leading technical project delivery.

  • Ability to operate independently across multiple functional domains.

ResponsibilitiesBusiness Analysis & Requirements
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences through presentations, diagrams, reports, and user stories.

  • Lead or facilitate requirements elicitation workshops to establish scope, processes, outcomes, and business needs.

  • Develop detailed business requirements, ensuring they are validated and approved by stakeholders.

  • Maintain requirements traceability throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Influence solution design to ensure alignment with business goals and strategic objectives.

  • Support testing teams by helping define and review test scripts and user acceptance criteria.

IT Operations & Service Management
  • Monitor performance and quality of IT services using KPIs and service metrics.

  • Assess business impact of IT risks, escalate appropriately, and ensure minimal disruption.

  • Maintain deep understanding of application domains including processes, data flows, system architecture, and integrations.

  • Work with vendors to resolve incidents, service requests, and operational issues.

  • Prepare materials for performance review meetings and leadership status updates.

Project Delivery & Continuous Improvement
  • Assist Business Relationship Managers in demand intake, business strategy discussions, and early business case input.

  • Document as-is and to-be processes using standard tools and methodologies.

  • Support design workshops, scope refinement, and solution visualization.

  • Provide consulting support throughout delivery and deployment phases.

  • Evaluate business processes, identify bottlenecks, and recommend improvements.

  • Participate in vendor reviews, product discussions, RFI/RFP contributions, and usability review of proposed solutions.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Maintain consistent use of internal tools, templates, and best practices.

  • Support change request analysis, impact assessment, and documentation updates.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
