Job description

Role Summary

Our client, a community-based hospital system in Central Ohio, is seeking an experienced Radiation Therapist to join its radiation oncology team. This role combines clinical radiation therapy responsibilities with operational and quality support functions within the department.

The Radiation Therapist will help ensure safe and effective treatment delivery, maintain regulatory compliance, support quality improvement initiatives, and assist leadership with departmental operations while delivering high-quality patient care.


Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver radiation therapy treatments and perform the core responsibilities of a radiation therapist.

  • Assist departmental leadership with administrative and operational responsibilities as assigned.

  • Develop, review, and maintain radiation therapy policies and procedures.

  • Educate staff on departmental procedures and applicable state regulatory requirements.

  • Support compliance with state radiation safety regulations and administrative code requirements.

  • Monitor and ensure completion of equipment quality assurance checks and maintain documentation.

  • Ensure preventative maintenance and equipment repairs are completed as required.

  • Lead and document Radiation Therapy Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement meetings.

  • Assist with the development and implementation of departmental QA/QI programs.

  • Support compliance with Commission on Cancer (CoC) standards and related quality initiatives.

  • Assist in coordinating patient care and treatment scheduling based on clinical needs.

  • Participate in staff recruitment, orientation, training, and competency evaluations.

  • Support radiation oncology billing review processes and assist with audits or corrections when needed.

  • Collaborate with the medical physicist to maintain radiation safety and equipment quality standards.

  • Support implementation and ongoing use of the electronic medical record system and related oncology information systems.


Technical Environment

The role requires familiarity with radiation oncology equipment and information systems including:

  • Linear accelerator systems and patient protection devices

  • CT simulation equipment

  • Radiation therapy imaging and verification systems

  • Oncology information and imaging systems (e.g., HIS, PACS, RIS, and related treatment management platforms)


Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy training program.

  • ARRT certification in Radiation Therapy (ARRT-T) required.

  • Active Radiation Therapist license through the Ohio Department of Health.

  • 3–5 years of radiation therapy experience, including training in simulation and treatment planning.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related healthcare or scientific field.

  • Experience supporting quality improvement, departmental operations, or regulatory compliance within radiation oncology.


Compensation & Work Model
  • Salary Range: $84,000 – $107,000 depending on experience

  • Sign-On Bonus: $15,000

  • Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

  • Call Rotation: 1 week on call followed by 2 weeks off

  • No weekend or holiday shifts
