Job Title: Assistant Project Manager - School and University Construction Projects
Location: Columbus, OH

They are looking for a skilled and motivated Assistant Project Manager to join their team in Columbus, OH. This is a fast-track position designed to develop into a Project Manager role, offering growth and advancement opportunities for an ambitious construction professional.
Position Overview: The Assistant Project Manager will support all project management functions on construction projects for schools and universities, working closely with the Project Manager to ensure each project's success from inception to completion. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with experience in educational construction who is ready to take on increased responsibilities and progress to a Project Manager position.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in overseeing all phases of construction for school and university projects, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and closeout.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants to maintain project schedules and ensure the timely completion of tasks.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, and project status reports.
  • Assist in tracking and managing project budgets, change orders, and cost projections to maintain financial goals.
  • Ensure project compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, especially those related to educational facility requirements.
  • Participate in site meetings with clients, architects, engineers, and project teams to maintain alignment on project goals and resolve issues.
  • Support safety protocols on job sites to ensure a safe working environment for all team members and trades.
  • Assist with quality control inspections to ensure work meets the firm's standards and client expectations.
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders to provide project updates and address any questions or concerns.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • 3+ years of construction experience, with a focus on educational facility projects, including K-12 schools and higher education institutions.
  • Strong familiarity with construction management software and proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of Ohio building codes, safety standards, and ADA compliance specific to educational facilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to customer service and team collaboration.
