Secretary II – Elementary Posting Date: August 20, 2026 Principal (Union Position)

Job Classification: Secretary II Effective Date: August 27, 2026

Job Location: Whittier Elementary FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Work Schedule: 11 Months (239 Contract Days) Hourly Rate: $21.17 per hour Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. (8 hours per day) 4:00 p.m. 8 hours per day

Position Description: This individual is responsible to the building principal. The person in this position is responsible for performing a wide variety of secretarial functions typically associated with an elementary school office.

Experience/Education: Minimum two (2) years experience where qualifications and responsibilities were comparable. High school diploma or equivalent.

Essential Functions: Answer phones Open and process mail Enroll & withdraw students Type correspondence and reports Process purchase orders/ Building Budget Bookkeeping for activity accounts and building supplies Data entry Greet and respond to all persons entering office Deviation Report/AESOP Free and reduced lunch plan School newsletter Coordinating building rental Other duties as assigned by the principal

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Typing (50 wpm) Filing Calculation Basic bookkeeping Proven skills in Microsoft Office Ability to work effectively with others Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing Good oral and written communications skills Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality Affinity for detail Human relations skills; ability to relate to a wide range of people and problems calmly and in an assured manner Proven competence in English composition, grammar, spelling, and punctuation Telephone presence Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment Maturity, composure, warmth, stability, high energy level and the ability to work independently to organize work schedules, set priorities and coordinate the flow of work through the office Initiative – ability to anticipate needs and to take appropriate action within established parameters while keeping supervisor appropriately informed. Effective, active listening skills Organizational and problem-solving skills
