Plant Engineering Manager

Plant Engineering and Maintenance Manager

Based in Columbus, OH, we are a growing food manufacturing company launching a new state-of-the-art baking facility serving premium consumer food brands nationwide.

We're seeking a Plant Engineering and Maintenance Manager to play a critical leadership role in the startup, commissioning, and long-term operation of a greenfield manufacturing facility. This position will lead maintenance, reliability, utilities, and capital improvement efforts while partnering closely with operations, quality, safety, and executive leadership to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient production.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of the plant maintenance and reliability strategy during startup and ongoing operations
  • Build, develop, and lead the maintenance organization, including hiring, training, and coaching maintenance technicians and technical personnel
  • Establish preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, asset management, and equipment reliability programs
  • Support facility startup activities including equipment installation, commissioning, validation, and operational readiness
  • Lead capital projects involving production equipment, utilities, facility infrastructure, and manufacturing improvements
  • Manage facility utilities including compressed air, HVAC, boiler systems, water systems, electrical distribution, and related manufacturing infrastructure
  • Partner with Operations, Quality, Safety, and Maintenance teams to improve equipment reliability, OEE, throughput, and product quality
  • Manage contractor relationships, equipment vendors, OEM support, spare parts programs, and technical service providers
  • Support food safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence initiatives including GMP, HACCP, SQF, and BRC requirements
  • Manage maintenance budgets, capital spending, resource planning, and project execution activities
  • Develop a proactive maintenance culture focused on reliability, continuous improvement, safety, and long-term asset performance

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field preferred, or equivalent maintenance, reliability, or manufacturing leadership experience
  • 7+ years of maintenance, reliability, engineering, utilities, or manufacturing leadership experience
  • Experience leading maintenance teams within food manufacturing, beverage manufacturing, bakery, consumer products, or similar industrial environments
  • Experience supporting facility startups, commissioning activities, expansions, or major capital projects
  • Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, reliability engineering, CMMS systems, and asset management practices
  • Experience managing utilities, facility infrastructure, production equipment, contractors, and technical vendors
  • Working knowledge of food safety systems including GMP, HACCP, SQF, or BRC
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, communication, and project management skills
