Ohio Department of Public Safety - Director's Office/Human Resources (Labor Relations)
Report in location: 1970 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43223

What You'll Do as a Labor Relations Administrator 1 :
  • Under general direction of the Assistant Chief Human Resources Officer, plans & administers overall labor relations program to include agency wide implementation of labor relations policy & procedures for the Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS) & directly supervises staff of Labor Relations, EEO & ADA sections.
  • Monitors & responds to all Step 3 grievance proceedings, mediations or requests for disciplinary action to ensure timely, applicable, consistent & contractually sound responses.
  • Reviews department administrative investigations & recommends discipline to Asst. Chief Human Resources Officer.
  • Serves as liaison with Division Directors, ODPS Director &/or other leadership staff to advise them of all labor relations matters to include HR laws, policies & procedures.

Qualifications
Option 1:
-Or 4 yrs. exp. in collective bargaining to include contract administration & management representation with regard to grievances &/or negotiated agreements (successful completion of the OCB Academy may be substituted for 6 mos. of required collective bargaining experience referenced in this portion of the minimum qualifications; applicants who completed OCB Academy prior to 1/1/2018 may substitute 12 mos. exp.).
Option 2:
-Or completion of undergraduate core program in human resources management
AND 2 yrs. exp. in labor relations/collective bargaining which included contract administration & management representation with regard to grievances &/or negotiated agreements (successful completion of the OCB Academy may be substituted for 6 mos. of required collective bargaining experience referenced in this portion of the minimum qualifications; applicants who completed OCB Academy prior to 1/1/2018 may substitute 12 mos. exp.).
Option 3:
-Or 2 yrs. exp. as Labor Relations Officer 2, 63472.
Option 4:
-Or 1 yr. exp. as Labor Relations Officer 3, 63473.
-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
