Job description

Location: Dublin, OH
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Quality Assurance Manager

Job Summary

The Quality Assurance Assistant plays a hands-on role in supporting quality control and inspection activities within a manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for inspecting inbound materials, verifying conformance to established standards, and supporting product quality throughout the production process.

This role also assists with returns processing and provides cross-functional support to production operations as needed. During periods of lower inspection volume, the Quality Assurance Assistant will support production activities, including work in the small parcel area. Success in this position requires a strong understanding of production processes, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while adapting to changing priorities.

This is a second shift position. The base schedule will be Monday – Friday, 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm, with overtime as needed.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform inbound inspection of raw materials, components, and finished goods, verifying compliance with quality standards, specifications, and purchase requirements.
  • Document inspection results, identify nonconforming materials, and coordinate appropriate disposition (e.g., hold, return, rework).
  • Inspect and document damaged or nonconforming shipments, ensuring accurate reporting and timely resolution.
  • Assist in the processing and tracking of product returns (RMA), including evaluation, documentation, and communication with internal stakeholders.
  • Support quality control processes by conducting audits, in-process inspections, and final verifications to ensure adherence to established standards.
  • Maintain accurate and organized quality records, logs, and supporting documentation in accordance with internal procedures. [
  • Partner with production teams to identify, escalate, and resolve quality issues, helping to prevent recurrence.
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining quality assurance procedures, work instructions, and inspection criteria.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance product quality, reduce defects, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Develop a strong working knowledge of all production processes to effectively evaluate product quality and support operations.
  • Provide hands-on support to production and small parcel/shipping areas during downtime or as business needs require.
  • Cross-train across departments to enhance flexibility and ensure overall operational support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in Quality Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of quality assurance or quality control experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with inspection processes, measurement tools, and quality standards.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify defects and inconsistencies.
  • Working knowledge of production processes and manufacturing operations.
  • Ability to work independently as a self-starter, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing demands.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with quality systems or ERP systems.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
