Job Summary

We are seeking a Remote Medical Coder to join our team in support of the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center The contractor must possess knowledge and experience with relevant VA systems and coding standards, including:

Oracle Cerner applications

3M/Solventum applications

International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM)

Diagnosis Coding and Facility Procedure Coding System (PCS)

Current Procedural Terminology (CPT)

Evaluation and Management (E/M) Level Coding

Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS)

In this role, you will transcribe patient records and process claims for reimbursements. You will be responsible for selecting the correct codes and functions to be assigned to each instance. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented with strong people skills and computer skills.

Responsibilities

Account for coding and abstracting of patient medical appointments

Research and analyze data needs for reimbursement

Ensure codes are properly sequenced

Analyze, file, and process medical records

Keep detailed documentation of any deficiencies or issues with medical records

Provide education and training to other coding staff

Review and verify documentation

Qualifications

High school diploma/GED or equivalent

CCS, RHIA, or CPC certification

Previous experience as a Medical Coder or in a similar position

Familiar with coding software and other computer programs

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Highly organized and able to problem-solve

Ability to adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines
