Job description

The OCA High School Math Interventionist will support students who are at risk of not meeting competency levels on state assessments. Preference will be given to candidates with experience using the IXL program, teaching Algebra and Geometry, and facilitating engaging, collaborative whole-group and targeted small-group LiveLessons that promote student participation and skill development; however, these experiences are not required. This is not an Intervention Specialist role, but candidates should be skilled in supporting the unique needs of students struggling in math. A valid Ohio teaching license with Grades 7–12 Math certification is required for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze student data, complete routine progress monitoring, and provide quarterly reports to OCA’s Governing Board. 
  • Teach intervention and credit-bearing courses that provide Algebra I and/or Geometry credit while supporting students in developing foundational math skills for success on state assessments.
  • Support individual students and small groups through phone outreach and LiveLesson instruction.
  • Deliver engaging whole-group LiveLessons focused on targeted EOC skill development and math intervention support aligned with Ohio’s high school math standards.
  • Implement IXL and other high-quality, state-approved intervention programs with fidelity.
  • Collaborate with math teachers and OCA Interventionists to support instructional planning and student achievement.
  • Assist with virtual and in-person testing, including benchmark and state assessments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Highly qualified and certified to teach in Ohio
  • Strong technology skills (especially with Microsoft Office products and Google Suite)
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Highly organized and punctual

  • Demonstrated ability to work well in fast paced environment
  • Team player track record
  • Strong interpersonal skills which include the ability to work effectively with students, parents, staff, and community members from diverse backgrounds

  • Ability to work remotely, while traveling occasionally for in-person meetings and testing
