Job description

Job Summary:

The Middle School Math Interventionist provides targeted instructional support to students in grades 6-8 who are performing below grade level in mathematics. This role is dedicated to closing achievement gaps by using data-driven interventions and working closely with classroom teachers, instructional coaches, and parents to support student success.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide small-group and one-on-one math instruction to students who need additional support.
  • Use assessment data to identify students in need of intervention and monitor progress.
  • Design and implement individualized and small-group math intervention plans.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to align intervention strategies with core instruction.
  • Analyze student work and formative/summative assessment data to inform instruction.
  • Maintain detailed records of student progress and intervention strategies used.
  • Communicate regularly with teachers, parents, and administrators regarding student progress and needs.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities related to mathematics instruction and intervention strategies.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of school-wide math improvement initiatives.Support standardized test preparation and administration.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Education from a four-year college or university.
  • Meet all North Carolina Department of Public Instruction certification requirements.
  • Demonstrate expertise in content, curriculum development,studentlearning, data analysis, digital learning, and professional development.
  • Exhibit experience analyzing and utilizing student data to increase student achievement through specific instructional interventions.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Master Degree in Education or related area.
  • Prior teacher coaching and/or mentoring experience.
  • Demonstrate mastery-level instructional practices as measured by an effectiveness rating of Effective or Highly Effective on the NC Educator Evaluation System (NCEES).

Skills and Competencies:

  • Deep understanding of math content for grades 6-8
  • Strong instructional and classroom management skills
  • Ability to differentiate instruction effectively
