Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Oncology unit position requiring a minimum of 2 years of RN experience, Epic proficiency, and rotating day/night shifts.

Details
  • Med/Surg Oncology unit in a hospital setting
  • Patient population includes those receiving chemotherapy, managing soft tissue malignancies, undergoing diagnostic services, and requiring symptom management related to disease progression or treatment
  • Additional focus on comorbidity management, infection prevention protocols, and patient fall prevention
  • Continuous cardiac monitoring is a key component of patient care on this unit
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Rotating 12-hour day and night shifts (7:00–19:30 / 19:00–7:30); shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on staffing needs
  • Floating required to units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • Equipment used includes GE B450 telemetry monitors, bladder scanner, Alaris pumps, and Stryker beds
  • Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
  • Active OH RN license or compact RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Proficiency in dysrhythmia interpretation required
  • Required skills include port access, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care/management, PICC line management, IV starts, assistance with chest tube insertion/removal, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), and ABG interpretation
  • 2 professional references required: at least 1 must be from a Manager, Director, or formal leadership role (e.g., Supervisor); a Charge RN is acceptable as the second reference; co-worker references are not accepted
  • Ohio state fingerprinting is required and must be completed promptly after accepting an offer
Additional Information
  • Oncology experience is preferred but not required
  • Previous travel nursing experience preferred
  • Local candidates are accepted
  • Former employees of this facility are eligible to apply after a minimum 6-month separation
  • RTO must be requested at time of consideration and is limited to 7 days or fewer for the contract duration
  • Ohio fingerprinting is a mandatory credentialing requirement; candidates currently outside of Ohio but within driving distance will need to travel to an in-state fingerprinting location; those at greater distances will receive a fingerprinting packet by mail to be completed urgently upon receipt
