Job description
Litigation Paralegal (Hybrid – Dublin, OH)
Oliver Law Office | $72,000 – $80,000
Are you the person who knows exactly what is due, when it is due, and what has to happen before it is? Do discovery deadlines make you organized instead of anxious? Do you like technology, want to use AI well, and get frustrated working somewhere that still does everything the way it was done in 2012?
If so, we want to talk.
About UsOliver Law Office is a successful and rapidly growing, woman-led Personal Injury & Wrongful Death firm headquartered in Dublin, Ohio. Founded in 2000 by CEO Jami S. Oliver, our mission is to provide the ultimate client experience through unparalleled communication and unrelenting advocacy.
● Named in Best Law Firms in America by U.S. News, 2023 through 2027
● Jami S. Oliver named Lawyer of the Year for Product Liability – Columbus (2024) and Medical Malpractice (2027)
● Selected to three 2027 Super Lawyers lists: Top 50 Columbus, Top 50 Women in Ohio, and Top 100 Ohio
We handle complex, high-stakes cases including automobile and trucking collisions, defective products, nursing home and medical malpractice, and mass torts involving recalled drugs and defective devices.
The RoleThis is a new position, created because our filed caseload has outgrown the team. You will be the person who owns the litigation side of our docket—active cases in Ohio common pleas and federal courts.
You will not be juggling intake, client relationship management, or settlement disbursement. Those belong to other people here. Your job is to keep filed cases moving: deadlines, discovery, depositions, and trial prep.
You will:
● Own the litigation calendar—case schedules, discovery cutoffs, dispositive motion deadlines, hearings, and trial dates—and the Filevine task chains behind them
● Draft written discovery and responses from our templates: interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admission, and objections
● Assemble and verify discovery responses, coordinate client review and signature, and manage productions
● Support depositions—scheduling, notices, subpoenas, exhibits, summaries—and attend depositions to assist the lawyers
● Prepare medical chronologies and damages summaries
● E-file in Ohio common pleas and federal courts and coordinate with local counsel
● Draft routine motions and proposed entries from our forms
● Run trial preparation: exhibit lists, witness lists, trial binders, subpoenas, and logistics
● Use AI and technology inside our approved tools and templates—with the judgment to know what has to be verified before it goes anywhere
● Improve our SOPs, including training videos and Looms
This is a hybrid role (currently 3 days in-office, 2 days remote).
What We’re Looking For● 3–6 years of civil litigation paralegal experience, plaintiff or defense. Defense-side experience is genuinely welcome—if you have been running a defense litigation docket and want to work for people instead of carriers, we want to hear from you.
● Demonstrated ownership of a litigation calendar and discovery deadlines on an active docket
● Hands-on drafting: discovery and responses, deposition notices, subpoenas, routine motions
● E-filing experience in Ohio courts
● Comfort with a cloud case management system (Filevine, Litify, SmartAdvocate, Clio, or similar), including automated task workflows
● Excellent written and verbal communication; organization, accuracy, professionalism
● Empathy. Our clients are going through some of the worst moments of their lives.
Preferred: personal injury, wrongful death, product liability, medical malpractice, or mass tort experience; Filevine specifically; experience through an actual trial; notary certification; bilingual (English/Spanish).
Not required: a paralegal degree or certificate. Ohio does not license paralegals, and some of the best litigation paralegals in this state came up through firms rather than programs. If you have the experience, apply. If you want certification, we have an education program in place to help pay for it.
Technology and AIWe are serious about this, so we will be specific. We run Filevine and LeadDocket, we build automated task chains, we draft from our own form library, and we use AI tools inside firm-approved systems and templates.
We want someone genuinely eager to use these tools—and who understands where they stop. If you can explain what you would never let AI touch without verifying it, you are speaking our language. If you have never used AI at work but are excited to learn, say so; we would rather train an eager learner than convert a skeptic.
Where This Role GoesWe are not hiring a seat-filler. We are hiring the person who will run our litigation team. The path is Litigation Paralegal → Senior Litigation Paralegal → Litigation Team Lead, with a formal review at twelve months and compensation that moves with it. If you want to be doing the exact same job in five years, this is not the right fit. If you want to build something and lead it, it is.
What We Offer● $72,000 to $80,000, commensurate with experience
● Eligibility for bonuses and monthly incentive programs
● Health, dental, and vision benefits
● 401(k) program
● Generous paid time off & holidays
● Paid paralegal certification or other educational advancement benefits, plus CLE and professional development
● A hybrid work schedule combining in-office collaboration with remote focus days
● Real technology—Filevine, automated workflows, a form library, and closed-end AI tools you are encouraged and expected to use
● A supportive, collaborative, client-focused environment where high performers grow with the firm
