The Opportunity:

We are currently seeking a Senior IT Infrastructure Intern to join our IT team in Columbus, OH.


This is a hands-on opportunity for a technically skilled and motivated student who is interested in gaining real-world experience supporting enterprise infrastructure, cloud environments, and network security operations. In this role, you will work directly with the IT management team to support infrastructure initiatives, strengthen network security, and help optimize our virtual and cloud-based systems.


The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong technical curiosity who can assist with both day-to-day infrastructure support and more advanced system administration and cloud management tasks.


What You’ll Do:

As a Senior IT Infrastructure Intern, you will support the IT team in maintaining secure, reliable, and scalable infrastructure systems across the organization. You will gain experience working with enterprise networking, firewall security, and cloud-based environments while assisting with infrastructure optimization and troubleshooting.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with firewall and network security management, including auditing configurations and supporting perimeter defense efforts.
  • Support the deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of resources within the organization’s Microsoft Azure environment.
  • Assist with infrastructure management initiatives, including hardware refreshes and system optimization for both local and remote office environments.
  • Investigate existing workflows and IT processes to help identify opportunities for improved efficiency and system performance.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting and support for infrastructure-related issues in collaboration with IT staff.
  • Maintain clear and accurate technical documentation for infrastructure systems, procedures, and configurations.
  • Assist with monitoring system performance and identifying potential security or operational risks.


What You’ll Bring:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in IT infrastructure, networking, and cloud systems.
  • Foundational knowledge of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, VLANs, and firewall technologies.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS.
  • Experience with PowerShell or similar scripting languages for automation preferred.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST 800-171 or similar regulatory standards preferred.
  • Experience with Azure/Firewall technical stack (Fortinet, Cisco, SonicWall) preferred.
  • Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure environments through coursework, labs, or prior internships preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive, self-starter mindset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex technical procedures.
  • Ability to work onsite 20 hours per week to start, then 40 hours per week for the summer, with flexibility to accommodate school schedule.
