Job Title: Public Safety Paramedic Preceptor - Hospital Setting
Position Summary:
The Public Safety Paramedic Preceptor provides clinical instruction, mentorship, and evaluation for paramedic students during their hospital-based training. This role ensures that students gain hands-on experience in patient care, develop clinical competencies, and apply classroom knowledge in a real-world healthcare environment. The preceptor works collaboratively with hospital staff, program faculty, and students to promote safe, effective, and professional paramedic practice.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and guide paramedic students during clinical rotations in the hospital setting.
  • Demonstrate and reinforce proper patient assessment, clinical skills, and professional behavior.
  • Provide constructive feedback and evaluate student performance against program and accreditation standards.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety procedures, and patient confidentiality requirements.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff and program instructors to support student learning and progression.
  • Serve as a professional role model, promoting excellence in patient care and public safety practices.
Qualifications:
  • Licensed Paramedic with current certification (state and national, as applicable).
  • Minimum of 5 years of field and/or hospital-based paramedic experience.
  • Strong clinical knowledge, communication, and teaching skills.
  • Ability to mentor, motivate, and evaluate students effectively.
  • Current CPR, ACLS, and other relevant certifications (PALS, PHTLS, etc. preferred).
