Job description

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for managing the day-to-day human resources administration and employee lifecycle processes at the Center for Christian Virtue (CCV). This position ensures seamless HR operations by executing daily transactional tasks, maintaining employee data integrity, and serving as the primary touchpoint for employee inquiries.

Reports to: Human Resources Director

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm

Compensation: Full-time, Salaried/Exempt

Location: CCV Office in Columbus, Ohio, with Occasional Statewide Travel

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted, accessible resource for employee inquiries regarding policies, benefits, and workplace concerns.
  • Manage full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, resume screening, interviewing logistics, and conducting background checks.
  • Lead onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring a welcoming experience for new hires and seamless transitions for departing employees.
  • Serve as the primary administrator for the HRIS, maintaining accurate employee records, workflows, and system updates.
  • Act as the HR liaison to the Finance department for payroll processing, ensuring accurate data transmission for hours, leaves, and deductions.
  • Oversee daily benefits administration, including annual open enrollment, monthly billing reconciliation, and acting as a liaison with the benefits broker.
  • Support managers with performance management, documentation, and the annual review process.
  • Coordinate employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and internal culture building events.
  • Execute and facilitate organizational learning and development initiatives, collaborating with the HR Director on key topics and curriculum needs.
  • Manage office logistics for staff, including coordinating monthly parking passes at the local garage for existing employees and new hires.
  • Serve as the primary internal liaison with our third-party IT/tech management vendor.
  • Oversee the independent contractor vetting, documentation, and onboarding process.
  • Ensure strict adherence to labor laws by maintaining required digital and physical state/federal labor law postings and ensuring workplace safety compliance.
  • Maintain digital personnel files in strict compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Support the administration of leaves of absence, workers' compensation claims, and unemployment documentation under the guidance of the HR Director.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Job Qualifications & Requirements

Skills and Experience

  • 3-5 years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably in a generalist or core specialist capacity.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Professional certification (SHRM-CP or PHR) is a plus.
  • Proficiency with HRIS platforms (experience with BambooHR is highly preferred) and standard office suites (Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace).
  • Strong conflict-resolution and communication skills; ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive employee relations with empathy and professionalism.

Character and Spiritual

  • Mature Christian, currently attending or pursuing attendance in a local church.
  • Agreement with and adherence to CCV's Statement of Faith and Code of Conduct.
  • Demonstrated commitment to CCV's mission and position on Core Issues.
  • Ability to work discreetly with confidential information.
