Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 5 years (preferably more) relevant experience in fields such as construction management, civil engineering, or surveying. Priority will be given to candidates who are experienced with civil site projects and construction activities and on a professional licensure track (PE, PS, BCSP, PMP, or similar).

The Site Civil Office/Field staff will be working with the technical team and under the supervision of a project manager to deliver well-executed projects to our clients. In the office, you will assist with plan production, constructability reviews, perform and review design calculations, drive quality assurance, and support the internal and external project team on a variety of site/civil land development engineering projects. Project elements typically include grading and earthwork, site access, erosion control, stormwater management, utility routing, project reports and notes, and other documentation to support the client's permitting and construction efforts. Field tasks include confirming that materials, grading, and other elements conform to the engineering plans; collecting information from the field and creating status reports for the client; and coordinating with design engineer, survey staff, contractors, and other team members to ensure construction proceeds smoothly and potential problems are identified and addressed quickly. The ratio of office-to-field hours will vary by project schedules and needs, but is anticipated to average approximately 75% office-based work.
What You Will Do:
  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to help produce engineering plans and exhibits.
  • Work with engineering and survey professionals to fulfill site civil and underground utility-related tasks.
  • Manage individual project phases such as survey, pre-construction, construction support and As-Built phases.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to support project objectives (scope, schedule, budget, deliverables, client satisfaction) in accordance with established metrics.
  • Develop or improve technical expertise in site/civil design and construction, hydrology/hydraulics, erosion and sedimentation control, slope stability, underground utilities, and stormwater management.
  • Primarily support projects through construction and as-built activities, including helping to establish workflows and schedules, attending client meetings and site visits, assisting with data collection and analysis, troubleshooting processes, documentation, and collaborating to successfully resolve issues.
  • Perform quality control checks (QA/QC) on construction plan sets, materials calculations, shop drawings, grading, and other civil construction elements.
  • Confirm on-site materials match engineering plans and shop drawings. Work with surveyors to schedule checks and confirm grading matches engineering plans. Ensure a high level of quality is achieved during the construction process and any deviation from plans or design is resolved to the satisfaction of client and design engineer.
  • Identify, document, and collaboratively work with project team to resolve any issues that arise during civil construction efforts.
  • Provide coaching and training to less-experienced staff. This may include both formal content in a classroom or office setting as well as mentoring and supervision in the field.

What You Will Bring:
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant field and office experience (more is better).
  • Ability to work proficiently with AutoCAD Civil3D, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite or other relevant office-based skills.
  • Strong ability to communicate thoughts and concepts with team members from diverse backgrounds, including willingness to learn and work collaboratively across multiple teams and disciplines.
  • Solid understanding of civil engineering plan concepts, calculations, and information, including ability to read, understand, and apply them in a field setting.
  • Good oral and written reporting and documentation abilities, including writing trip notes, field reports, and other project records.
  • Current driver's license and ability to drive to project construction sites.
  • Be physically able to safely inspect active construction sites, including walking on uneven ground, avoiding site hazards, and exposure to heat/cold/other weather conditions.
  • Strong preference for education, certifications, and professional experience in engineering, survey, construction management, HSE, or related field that adds value to the project team and overall program.
