Job description

The Erosion Company (TEC) is searching for a high-energy Area Sales Manager to drive aggressive growth in the Greenville, SC market. We are the largest and most experienced erosion control contractor in the Southeast, providing comprehensive erosion control and related services to a wide range of residential, commercial, industrial, infrastructure, and governmental clients.
The successful candidate will have a "Can-Do" attitude, a strong work ethic, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. They will be responsible for driving overall growth throughout the Greenville area and should be equally comfortable meeting with residential/commercial builders, construction site managers, project managers, estimators, and engineers, while continuing to canvas for prospective business and providing the same level of support to existing clients. You'll need to have a strong sense of urgency, high energy, self-motivation, discipline, client/customer focus, and be ready to hit the ground running! This role is built for someone who loves being in the field, managing a high volume of quotes and opportunities, meeting customers and prospects, networking, following up until the job is won, and being financially well-rewarded for success.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Develop and execute a territory sales plan to increase revenue, margin, and market share in the Greenville area.
  • Prospect aggressively for new business through cold calling, networking, jobsite visits, and industry events to build and maintain a strong pipeline.
  • Manage and grow existing accounts by maintaining regular contact, identifying new opportunities, and increasing share of wallet with current customers.
  • Present, and follow up on a high volume of quotes and proposals, negotiating terms and closing profitable deals.
  • Build strong relationships with builders, contractors, engineers, project managers, and inspectors involved in erosion control and site work.
  • Identify and track upcoming projects (pre-bid and pre-award), positioning TEC early and developing strategies to win future work.
  • Visit jobsites to understand site conditions, confirm scopes, and ensure that proposed erosion control solutions are practical and constructible.
  • Maintain a solid working knowledge of erosion control products, installation practices, and stormwater/ES&C regulations to advise clients confidently.
  • Help customers navigate compliance requirements by recommending appropriate BMPs and supporting required documentation when needed.
  • Use CRM to manage accounts, contacts, opportunities, quotes, and follow-up activities with high accuracy and discipline.
  • Collaborate closely with operations, estimating, and field teams to ensure accurate pricing, realistic schedules, and successful project execution.
  • Build market share and position by locating, developing, defining, negotiating, and closing business deals while strengthening business relationships.
  • Become a trusted expert in all areas that govern the erosion control industry, by continuing to educate oneself through reading, attending professional seminars and group activities, as well as maintaining a personal network.

Required Qualifications:
  • Direct sales experience in the equipment rental, site work, heavy civil, development, landscaping, erosion control, or other construction services area.
  • Proven track record of revenue and profitability growth through new account acquisition and organic growth with existing accounts.
  • A passion for a potential client and customer engagement.
  • Exceptional people and presentation skills.
  • High-producing self-starter who is accountable for their daily activities.
  • Proficiency with CRM and other business-related IT systems.
  • Must have current contacts and ties within the Greater Greenville area construction services market.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Construction Services background.
  • Strong working knowledge of Salesforce.com; Lightning preferred.
  • Ties to local, state, and/or federal professional associations.
