PURPOSE/SUMMARY:

As a VDC Technician I, you will play a crucial role in coordinating tasks, communicating effectively with supervisors and peers, and ensuring accurate and efficient completion of assigned projects. You will assist in the day-to-day drawing layout, detailing and project organization for the VDC Service Group.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Task Completion and Coordination
    • Ensure timely and accurate completion of assigned tasks.
    • Communicate with supervisors regarding task status, completion, and any additional information required.
    • Ask questions and seek clarification when needed to support project success
  • Thermal Development

    • Learn the differences between Seismic Bracing and Thermal Bracing and understand the purpose of PSA.
    • Become familiar with ISAT manuals, approved details, and Thermal Design standards.
    • Develop an understanding of Thermal terminology and participate in internal discussions and team meetings.
    • Learn how to utilize the Thermal Bracing Legend while modeling.
  • Technical Development

    • Develop proficiency in Navisworks for model navigation, viewpoints, file appending, and clash detection.
    • Learn to use Bluebeam for document navigation and annotations.
    • Gain experience with Revit concepts, including model synchronization, exporting, modeling principles, and documentation tools.
    • Cross-reference ISAT PSD manuals and details to support accurate Thermal Design within project models.
    • Follow established naming conventions and organizational standards within project models.
    • Learn to identify potential issues within the model and communicate them to supervisors.
    • Utilize BIM360 to support project workflows and collaboration.
    • Assist with drafting activities, including adding tags, dimensions, drawing notes, and installation details.
  • Construction and Engineering Development

    • Develop an understanding of construction methods and how they impact project objectives.
    • Build familiarity with engineering details and their role in project quality and accuracy.
    • Gain exposure to engineering standards and building codes, including ASME B31, IBC, IFC, UFC, and CBC.
    • Follow VDC drafting standards to maintain consistency and quality across project deliverables.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • High level of attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality, and a critical eye for design.
  • Technician I is an entry level position for virtual construction within the ISAT Total Support employment structure. The objective is to develop a general knowledge of all ISAT components and technologies, the seismic design and submittal process and VDC Service Group Deliverables.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
