Job description

Job Summary

The Electrical Engineer will contribute to the release of new, best in class Chiller and CW Systems products; will work in a cross-functional development group; manage a variety of tasks and activities in a dynamic environment; and solve complex problems where no precedence exists. Will provide direct support of our manufacturing teams, analyze manufacturing issues, report findings back to the electrical engineering team, and support implementation of solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Design next generation Chiller and computer room cooling products designed for air and liquid cooling systems
  • Collaboration across the disciplines of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, process engineering, as well as production and offering teams. Work with these teams for design reviews, meeting cost metrics, and brainstorming around customer pain points.
  • Performs a variety of engineering calculations using traditional engineering methods to verify design requirements
  • Develops solutions to complex problems where little or no precedence exists - the use of ingenuity and creativity is regularly required
  • Participate in identification of cost reduction opportunities and in the design and development of cost reduction changes
  • Implement product changes to solve field issues, support service department
  • Component verification
  • Support manufacturing facilities with prototypes, testing, sustaining and cost reduction activities
  • Support lab facilities with prototypes and testing
  • Be familiar with design solutions connected with EMC, Harmonics and Power Factor correction on industrial products 
  • Create and revise unit wiring schematics and network connection drawings
  • Create and review electric panel layouts following relevant codes and standards
  • Create and revise wire harnesses
  • Work with software team to develop and verify product controls solutions

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or related degree from an accredited college or university
  • 3+ years of career experience in new product development as an individual contributor
  • Familiar with HVAC design or an industrial design of a similar nature
  • Ability to work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment independently and as a member of a dynamic team; offer and receive constructive criticism
  • Demonstrated history of delivering quality products to market with understanding and respect for phases of the product development process
  • Excellent project management skills and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficient in 3D CAD software, preferred CREO 4.0 and greater
  • Knowledge of NEC (NFPA70), IEEE 519, UL 508A SB, UL60335-2-40, or equivalent CSA/UL standards
  • VFD programming and troubleshooting experience
  • Experience with communications and interconnects standards and protocols including RS485, CAN, and Ethernet

The anticipated salary range for this role in the MN locality is between $92,000 to $126,500 per year (based on a 40-hour work week)]-salary ranges for other geographic localities may vary. Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance and are role based. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to receive and/or participate in profit sharing, allowances, travel and/or car expenses, and earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization depending on the terms of the employee's role and individual offer details. The role is eligible to participate in a comprehensive and competitive benefits program, including medical, dental, vision, disability, PTO, holiday pay, and 401k.
